"Here's Carroll, flicks it on, oh and surely with Wilshere! Yes, it's in! Jack Wilshere has won the Champions League for Luton Town against all odds, lead by mastermind Joe Hudson! What an achievement! He will surely go down in history as one of the greatest ever managers to grace the game, up there with the likes of Clough, Ferguson, Dalglish..." It was then when I woke up from an incredible dream.. I opened up my laptop, opened up the internet browser, went onto BBC Football, and there was a headline glaring at me in the face..
Luton sack manager Money
Chiefs at Luton Town football club today confirmed that they have terminated the contract of manager Richard Money with immediate effect after a fall out over his wage budget. Assistant manager Gary Brabin takes temporary charge at the club, but the board expect to appoint a new manager within the next week. They have opened the door for any person to apply and take over.. literally.
"Christ". I said to myself.. I sat at the desk just for a minute thinking about the future of my beloved club.. until I thought, "Sod it". I ripped open my wardrobe and peered inside.. nope, nothing suitable to wear, time to go shopping. I just popped any clothes on, grabbed my wallet and phone, put my jacket on and nipped quickly into town to buy a new suit. "I think I'll need more than just the one if I can do it.." I said to myself whilst walking past a bunch of teenage girls, who stared at me as if I was dancing on the street wearing a sombrero and dressed as a tomato.
A couple of hours later, I walked out of a suit hiring store, happy as Larry with my bags, eager to get home and change. When I got home I rushed up to my bedroom and looked at my self in the mirror... "Hello Mr. Hudson" I said to myself, before stripping and carefully putting my new suit on. I looked at the time.. it's only 10am, might aswell finish off my season on FM11 as Luton.. Premier League champions already, facing Bayern Munich in the Champions League final. I then thought again, saying to myself "I better not, don't want to ruin my big chance over a little game do we now?". I then grabbed my CV, phone and keys, put my jacket on and made my way down to Kenilworth Road.
After a nervous, long 2-hour wait in the reception.. it was finally my turn to enter Mr. Owen's office. I looked back at the waiting room.. some faces I hadn't a clue who they were.. some I recognised as I've probably seen them manage a team at Kenilworth Road. Anyway, in I go..
As I entered I saw Luton's chairman Nick Owen in his swivelling chair by his desk.. it was quite intimidating.. you'd have thought he was Simon Cowell or Alan Sugar by the way he looked at you. "Hello!" He said, "I'm Mr. Owen, the chairman of Luton Town football club! Whats your name, sir?"
"Mr Joseph Hudson, sir. It's a pleasure to meet you, may I take a seat?" I stuttered.
"Yes you may take a seat, Mr. Hudson".
The interview was about half-an-hour long. My leg's were shaking all the way through it.. but I think I did well. He didn't ask to look at my CV, luckily, he just asked me many questions about what I'd do managing the team and about my relationship and feeling about the club. I went back home feeling very good about myself.

The next day, I thought I would stay in waiting for any news. I got up at 10am, popped a shirt on and pretty much played FM11 all day, I started a new save as Luton to jot down any tactics that may be useful should I get this job.. and had a look at some signings I could make. I signed several players, and got sucked into the game you'd have thought I had forgot I had a pending job application. Then the phone rang.. "Hello?" I gulped.
"Hello there, is this Mr. Hudson?"
"Yes, yes it is Mr. Hudson. Can I help you?"
"Well, yeah you can. You made a job application yesterday to become manager of Luton Town football club, am I right in thinking that?"
"Yes, you are correct."
"Good, well, after plenty of discussions, conversations and meeting with the boardroom, we have decided that.."
My heart then paused.. I think I knew what was coming.
"..you are the man for us to bring the club up! Congratulations! Your application has been chosen"
"Oh my goodness. I am SPEECHLESS! Thank you, you don't know how much this means to me.."
"I think I do actually.. anyway are you able to make your way down to Kenilworth Road today?"
"Yeah, I've got all day."
"Good! Please get down here as soon as possible, and just enter the reception and we'll take it from there!"
"Okay, thank you! I'll see you later then?"
"Yeah, goodbye Mr. Hudson"
I carefully put the phone down and had a moment to myself before dancing in celebration and bursting out with laughter. I put on the same suit as yesterday, picked up my keys and phone, put my jacket on and walked down to Kenilworth Road as quickly and calmly as my legs could take me. What an opportunity this will be for me.
