So - Is SAF:

a) Doing what Wenger did in 2008, and handing over the FA Cup to concentrate on Marseille and the PL?

b) Just being more defensive that Mancini at the Emirates?

a) Down to bare bones, we dont have any mid fielders bar Scholes, who will be playing on Tuesday.

b) Point a. We dont need to go defensive, We have beaten you more often than not in the last 2-3 seasons.

In a 4-4-2

VDS

Brown Smalling Vidic O'shea

Rafael Fabio Gibson Evra

Rooney Hernandez

I would have started with King as a winger rather than Evra. Would have played Fabio as CM and King who has done very well and is very strong on the ball as winger.

I'm not at all feeling good about this game.. :S

I really doubt he'll go for that. But he could well spring a surprise...

I've got butterflies.

@whoever asked me where the starting XI came from, via Arsenal.com on twitter.

OK - But he's still (potentially) sacrificing the FA Cup in favour of Europe/The League - Giggs and Scholes are on the bench, but I know where you're coming from :)

You don't need to go defensive, but have lost twice in a row & have named 7 defenders.

Yes, it is a big risk. We did a same thing in 2008-09 against Everton, played well but lost on penalties.

Naming 7 defenders is not playing defensive. Playing 7 in the defense line is.

Line up is very surprising, never expected this. Hopefully we get the result we wanted..

To add to this Fletcher, Carrick, Ando injured and we have game on Tuesday so cant risk Giggsy and Scholes.

I still think Man Utd will win despite the line up. Although Arsenal will surely fancy themselves after seeing the Utd team.

No. Not necessarily, but I think you're going to have to/be forced to by Arsenal with what is a fairly weakened side due to injuries etc.

I think he's definitely trying to save our fit CMs for the Marseille game. What a strange lineup.

More worrying is about Obertan. Manager has opted for 2 fullbacks rather than him. Shows how much he has gone backwards. Not at all looking good..

Surely United fans should know to have faith in Fergie by now, as weird as it looks as a line up, he isn't a mug, id watch and see first before you judge.

Given our injuries situation, i dont think anyone can question his line up. We have put the best line up possible..

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger on what he expects from Manchester United in their FA Cup quarter-final:
"They always play always against us with a very tight midfield, try to put pressure on us from midfield, and in December (in the Premier League) they had only Wayne Rooney up front, so I think they always set up against us to defend well. However, I wouldn't say they are scared. They have no reason to be scared because they have enough experience."

Although im sure Sir Alex would prefer to pick a stronger side...

It isn't always a bad thing, today we had a totally depleted side against 7th placed first choice Bolton side and outplayed them for the most part.

Those that come in to the team have that hunger to go that extra yard.

Lol, Arsenal play with lone striker all games. XD

Cant wait for this match, Arsenal are going to get raped on there right flank Evra + Fabio <3

We also play with an AMC, rather than a defensive midfielders and two CMs, and have a very attacking approach, where Man Utd looked to close down our space and hit us on the counter in December.

Nasri and Sagna... Two of the best performers in the PL this season <3

To put it in simple terms, you were tactically out done in the last 2-3 seasons.
