Just Thought I'd let you lot know about this. Its something I built my 4-2-4 Tactic on and am Currently building my 4-5-1 around.

It exploits the AI fullbacks and centre backs by stretching the oppositon D-Line beyond the normal game limits.

By setting your team to play wide and then play down the flanks you effectively Stretch The Whole pitch. Then by Setting your Wingers to 'Cut Inside' and Through Ball 'Often' they will then move into the space created between fullback and centreback, forcing the centre back to move across, leaving the forward open for the through ball. It Kills any team.

I think this maybe the only genuine FM2011 AI exploit. And I discovered it <3 :D

Sorry to burst your bubble but thats been around for a long time

its not an exploit its simply what happens in real life, i use it with my wide playmaker in hazard, who isolates and skins his fullback. the AI also does such things, so i go narrow and deep

Since they can do the exact same thing to you.

Eden Hazard  it was his devastating game for chelsea in fm10 against me, that made him my first signing in fm11

Don't see what the exploit is. Surely it's just the match engine forcing defender's to take the logical decision? My whole tactic is built around this fact.

The Exploit is that They have no logical decision and are trapped, stay with there man and be caught by the winger, leave there man and be open for the through ball....

How wide would I set my play?

Wide as you can.

Surely that's good tactics by you, then? If you're leaving the defender in a position where both choices have negative consequences, then you have him trapped by a paradox which should be the ultimate tactical goal.

What next for England tactically? « Dots&Crosses

Read the bit on 4-6-0, it's a similar concept. Or lets look at Nani IRL, when he's running down the right wing the full back doesn't know how to defend against him because he can either cut in or take it to the byline. Is it an exploit or just making the most of your players abilities to attack defenders? Football would be an extremely boring sport if defenders were supposed to be able to defend against every possible situation.

do you have to play down both flanks to make this work? wouldnt it work with mixed passing aswell?

You seem to be using my own point against me? I never said its not done IRL, as you said, Lots of players do this.

The point of it is, By playing as wide as possible then playing down the flanks further streching the width, Whatever the defender decides to do is proven futile as he will come to 3 situations

1- The winger cuts inside, The centre back leaves his man and the through ball is sent through for the 1 on 1
2- The winger cuts inside, The centreback sticks with his man and the Winger carries on through to the 1 on 1
3- The winger cuts inside, The fullback follows and the centreback moves across, the winger then plays his fullback into space for the cross to the open forward...

The difference is, IRL the defence would move across entirely e.g The 1st CB takes the winger, The 2nd CB takes the forward and the other fullback takes the 2nd forward/winger. The ME in 2011 doesn't do this and is therefore an exploit. A situatuation the game cannot contain..

Hey Laffles are you making a tactic with this exploit in it, if yes what formation will it be?

its not an exploit, the AI does it varying on the manager, because its down to how much they utilise width, barca do it a lots and so do arsenal. Its a real life issue, and thats why two footed wingers are so dangerous because they can beat you inside or out side.

and the defence does move across entirely, i used that fact to score a brilliant goal against west brom when hernandez hit a cross field pass to take advantage of the massive gap opened up on the other flank becuase the defence shifted across, Varane then hit a 50 yard splitter to hazard who was away and scored

This is where my napoli 3-4-3 does not get caught out because of the amazing sweeper who gets rid of this situation.

Wingers never bother me but long shots seem to be doing me ><
