Goalkeeping Coach Ron Hillyard has started work on gaining his Continental A License. Ron will complete the course after roughly 12 months of study at a cost of £3,000.

In the Capital One Cup First Round draw Gillingham were drawn away to League 1 side Bournemouth. The tie will take place at Dean Court on Tuesday 14th August 2012.

Before the first pre season game left back Joe Martin sustained a sprained ankle after falling awkwardly during a training session. With Martin likely to be out for between 6-7 weeks it means that he will miss all of pre season.

After scoring two goals in the pre season friendly against Boreham Wood Adam Birchall suffered a damaged elbow due to falling heavily during the game. Luckily Birchall will only be out for about 2-3 weeks so should recover in time for the start of the new season.

Gillingham's game against Chesterfield on Saturday 13th October 2012 has been brought forward to a 13:15 KO as it is being given live television coverage. We will receive about £10,000 in television money for this game.

In his first game for the club right midfielder Robin Shroot picked up a twisted knee in the friendly against Bolton. As he is on a season long loan he shall be staying with the club although he is expected to be out of action for about 3 weeks.

In our final pre season game against Dover Chris Whelpdale suffered a torn groin muscle. With my other right midfielder Robin Shroot out injured as well I may draught in another loanee as Chris is expected to be out for around 2 months.

Before the first game of the season I had to select who would be my captain and vice captain for the forthcoming season. I decided to stick with Danny Kedwell as captain but replaced Andy Frampton with Charlie Lee for the vice captain position.

In the Johnstone's Paint Trophy First Round draw Gillingham where drawn away to fellow League 2 side Dagenham & Redbridge. The game will be played at Victoria Road on Tuesday 4th September 2012.

Gillingham Reserve manager Mark Patterson has started studying to gain his Continental B License. The course will take about 6 months to complete and will cost roughly £1,200. Luckily Patterson will be covering the cost himself.

During the heavy defeat in the Capital One Cup match against Aston Villa Adam Birchall suffered his second injury of the season after spraining his ankle whilst landing awkwardly during the game. Birchall will be out for about 6-7 weeks.
