Football Club de Versailles 78 also known as FC Versailles or simply Versailles is a French semi-professional association football club based in the commune of Versailles, Île-de-France. The club was formed in 1989 as the result of a merger between Racing Club Versailles and Companion Sports Versailles.[1] Their home stadium is the Stade de Montbauron, which has a capacity of 7,545 people, but play in Stade Jean-Bouin for Championnat National matches.

The club won promotion from the 2021–22 Championnat National 2 and now plays in the Championnat National, the third tier of the French football league system. The club is an official academy of the French Football Federation.

So why have I picked Versailles?

I've really struggled to find a decent long term save on this years game and hoping this will be it as I look to replicate my Deportivo save from last year as we look to go up through the leagues. We're going to have to make some serious improvements to the clubs facilities to get some decent players coming through as I don't see us bringing in any decent money any time soon to build a decent squad and we will look to overturn PSG before looking at becoming the kings of Europe
The Squad

Well first look at squad is we have a pretty small one with only 22 players and a real mix of players with Jermain Lens being the stand out name as at 34 we hope that he still has some of the skill and class that saw him win 34 caps for the Netherlands and score 8 goals. We also have Rachid Alioui who has 17 caps and 2 goals for Morocco. One thing we notice straight away is most of the teams contracts come to an end at the end of the season so we will need to see who is worth renewing.

Board Vision

The board have high expectations as they look for us to be promoted this season but apart from that then there is nothing else to really worry about.

Supporter Vision

Just the same expectations as the board so if we keep the fans happy then we should keep the board happy and keep our job as well

Club Finances

With the club being so far down and only semi professional then we don't have a lot of money so we're going to have to do something about it which should come with growing the clubs reputation and building the fanbase.

We have a little bit of money to spend but its not going to be much so it will need to spent carefully if its needed.

We've brought in one player so far to add something to our defence and that player is 19 year old Billy Koumetio from Liverpool

We had a good preseason with huge wins for us against Burnley and Malaga along with another load of wins as well.

The Start

A busy start for us as we face some of the other big teams in the league but at least we can get them out the way early
The Start

Le Mans v Versailles

A very good start as our former internationals steal the show here as they were both involved in all 3 goals with Alioui picking up the MOTM

Versailles v Le Puy Foot 43

After 2 games I can already see Alioui is going to be a huge player for us as he scores two great solo goals to show he doesn't need anybody else

Nicholas Bilokapic

We have Bilokapic join us on loan from Huddersfield for the season and will challenge to be our No.1

Wilson Odobert

A young left winger join from Troyes AC for the season and will add a bit more youth to the squad

Albert Lottin

Another young midfielder to come in and will be a start for us as he joins on loan from Genoa

Roberto Fernandez

Our most high profile signing as Fernandez joins on loan from Bournemouth and can play anywhere down the left but will be our starting LB

AS Nancy v Versailles

Our toughest match of the opening month and its no other than Alioui who gets the breakthrough as he gets his head on the end of a cross from Lens

Versailles v FC Borgo

Well this didn't go as expected at all as it looked like we were on for a defeat after falling 2-0 down but thankfully Lottin got a goal back straight after the 2nd to get us straight back into the game

USL Dunkerque v Versailles

A draw again but this time its us who throws away the lead but it was probably a fair result

Versailles v Stade Briochin

We get back to winning ways and a first goal for on loan Koumetio before Alioui gets another brace as well

US Avranches v Versailles

What a game and what a turnaround as we looked to be out of it acouple of times but Alioui gets a hat-trick to get us the win along with a good goal from Sylla who appeard at the back post to tap home

Well we're where we're expected to finish with the team expected to finish first sitting in first so we've got a solid start and hope it can continue

First taste of the cup as we enter in the 5th round along with some decent games in the league for picking up more points

Versailles v Paris 13 Atletico

They are swiftly pushed aside with another good win and team performance

Coupe de France 5th Round
Le Chesnay FC v Versailles

Facing non-league oposition we were able to rotate nearly the whole team to rest them and our backups did us justice with a big win

FC Bourg-Peronnas v Versailles

A much tougher game here and we were made to work for it as it was our 35 year old striker who got the breakthrough with a nice lob

Coupe de France 6th Round
ESA Linas-Montlhery v Versailles

Another non-league team as we rotate the starting XI here again but it could of been a more comfortable win but we got lucky with a penalty and an own goal to see us into the next round.

Versailles v FC Matigues

Alioui is still firing the goals in as he scores another good goal to get us another big 3 points.

Villefranche Beaujolais v Versailles

We pushed Fernandez up to the left wing and it paid off here as he was able to cut in and fire home from just inside the box.

Coupe de France 7th Round
Le Mee Sports v Versailles

Again we were able to rotate and Armand has one of the games of his life as he runs riot with 4 goals to see us into the 8th round

It looks like its already a 2 horse race for the title and those two teams should be the two promoted at the end of the season as we've opened up a 10 point gap on the rest of the table.

We've got the first game between to top 2 teams here along with the 8th round of the cup. I really hope we can get a big draw at some point to help the bank balance.

Versailles v SO Cholet

A disappointing game where we were the much better team but just couldn't take our chances as we have to settle for a draw

Versailles v LB Chateauroux

What a start as Alioui continues his for with 2 goals from set pieces here as we get a huge win

US Orleans v Versailles

Alioui is at it again as he tears the US Orleans defence to pieces as they just couldn't cope as he bags another hat-trick

Coupe de France 8th Round
Stade Plabennecois v Versailles

As usual we rotate in the cup and let other people have a run out as we lucked out on the draw again as we now progress to the 9th round where Ligue 1 clubs enter

Versailles v Red Star

A poor draw here and there isn't much else to say about this game

We hold a 6 point lead at the top of the table now and 12 points over 3rd as well

Just the 3 games this month as we have the winter break to give the players a bit of time off

US Concarneau v Versailles

Our first loss of the season and of course it comes against one of the teams in the relegation zone

Versailles v Sedan Ardennes

We bounce back with a very narrow against the team sitting bottom of the league as our form seems to be dipping

Le Puy Foot 43 v Versailles

More dropped points against another team in the relegation zone here as again we really need to improve

A poor month so us only pick up 4 points from 9 as the gap starts to close on us at the top

We have a lucky draw again in the cup yet again as we look to go as far as we can in it to try and get some decent money from gate receipts

Coupe de France 9th Round
Versailles v US Orleans

Alioui gets us off to a great start as we get a solid win to start the month off and lets us progress into the 10th round of the cup

FC Borgo v Versailles

A boring draw here that was made all the worse by a bad tackle from Ba right at the end

Versailles v AS Nancy

Lens got us off to a flying start with a screamer from outside the box but we couldn't capitalise on the quick start as Nancy were able to get back into it

Versailles v USL Dunkerque

Another draw and more dropped points for us as it was our turn to have the hard work and fight back for a point

Coupe de France 10th Round
Versailles v Lille

I'm actually very happy with this result as we manage to stay in the match right up until the 71st minute but sadly Lille were just too strong for us but we can be proud to have reached this far.

Stade Briochin v Versailles

We bounce right back with our first win in 5 games and its well needed as it gets our promotion charge back on track

With the way our form has been this month there are now only 2 points between 1st and 2nd never mind 3rd being just 9 points behind us as well

We only have 12 games left to play this season and 4 of them come this month so hopefully we can get back to pulling away at the top
