Do you understand the role I gave Suarez?
and is he playing ok?
Same goes for Carroll.

Yh suarez dlf so he comes bak collects the ball an dribbles wid it an carrol target man so he can knock it on an surprisingly kuyts finnally playin well scored 2 in 4 friendlys do u play meireles cm an gerrard ap an who u play on the left an defence is pretty good, league game coming up soon against tottenham away so tht will be a gd test and getting alot of possesion in most games so thts good and goals are coming from everywhere not jus my front two an been rotating in friendlys so cnt really say much about the front 2 yet an ngog has been really good in the target man area scored 3 in 4 sub on apps at half time. Im not on it now as it was startin to crash so ill carry it on tmz and post more results an feedback for u.

Hey laffles, I'm really looking forward for your interpretation of a counter-attack based tactics. Could you provide a sneak peak of your approach, maybe in regard of passing style and game philosophy? And maybe even more important, are you aiming solely at weaker sides, or could a champions-league-winning team also play well with it?

The thing is, I've arrived in 2019/2020 season now, with almost all teams of my division trying to play possession football. I've been doing so for a couple of seasons, and it just gets boring after a while. I don't like poss' football anyway, I'd rather have my players use their possession effectively instead of grinding pass %s.

Personally, I'd love to see heavy pressure on the ball-playing opponent, beginning way up in their own half, and lightning-quick switches into attack mode once the ball has been won.

Dunno, maybe you have something similar in mind :)

Chers for the thread, looks brilliant so far.

Yeah, Meireles in CmL to make the most of his insane ranged ability, He'll get 20+ goals easy.
Ngog is an FM god. Never sell him. Suarez should cross the ball too when the opportunity comes, just to make Carroll more deadly

I myself love Counter-Attacking.
I based my Highly Successful Spurs team on the counter attacking German WC team.

I play a flat back 3, 2 DM's, 2 Wide Mids (making the most of Bale) 2 AM's (Modric and VdV) With a Lone Poacher up front. It was a great tactic. Though I regularly delete tactics to stop getting clogged up. I prefer a 'Draw them on to you' Style with little pressing, to pull there whole team onto me then breaking rapidly. In 2013-14 Gareth Bale got 22 goals and 32 assists, Doumbia had an insane 46 goals from the poacher position. :)

So am i better using your diamond tactic for my team?

What pitch size, opponent instructions and match preparation

Yeah, It works nicely with Danny in the AM role.

Min Pitch Size, No OI, Match Prep- Attacking Movement (Very High)

Aye, just tried a similar 'waiting' style within a 4-2-3-1 (picked up some great wingers and a decent AMC some seasons ago).

After a couple of league games and some prep matches (played about 8 matches with a counter tactic now), I do get the impression that the 'Counter Attack' instruction is mistranslated, and originally was named something like 'Get Lobotomized'... :/

The thing is, my players act as counter-intuitively as it is humanly possible. For example, my wingers are set as Attacking Inside Fowards, ordered to cut inside. If (and that is a huge if) a counter attack occurs and they get a long ball with no-one else between them and the opposing GK, they run .... yup, right up to the corner and wait there until the defense has reorganized. My defenders - don't, instead they'll provide escort for the opposing attackers. And if they do win a ball in defense, there's nothing 'direct' about the play at all, instead they'll just pass the ball around, or (when playing anywhere near the touchline) out of the field.

Anyway, I just found it hilariously weird what these guys do. And I'm missing more options to slam'em even more after playing badly. :)
