Michael James Owen (born 14 December 1979) is a former English footballer who played as a striker for Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Stoke City. He has appeared in 216 games and scored 118 goals for Liverpool maintaining a 0.55 goal per game. He had 89 caps for the England National Team and scored 40 goals. He is also the winner of 2001 Ballon d'Or and has entered the England Football Hall Of Fame.

On 2 January 2015, Crystal Palace announced Alan Pardew as the new manager of the club replacing Neil Warnock as the first team manager signing a three-and-a-half-year contract with the club after a 5-year spell with Newcastle United. Alan Pardew had 38.38% win record in the five years.

English Wonderkid Will Hughes have signed for Newcastle United from Derby County at a fee 11.5Million Euro. The lad have had 23 caps for England U18 and U21 and have had 3 international goals.
