Quite a good article of all things FSG since the takeover...
FSG's five years at Liverpool: The highs, lows, signings, worst players, best XI and more - Mirror Online
A lot of positive signs and massive differences of late.
The appointment of a World class (I know, semantics Alcaraz my good man. Smiles) manager (ironic we're playing Tottenham Sat'day who could never of hoped to attract someone of his or Ancelotti's ilk. But we're on their level right JC? *Rolls eyes) is a massive step forward. Handing over the keys fully to the football side to him giving complete control is another and an acceptance from them they needed to change. The rejigging of the 'committee' into a far better structured system taking out non-football men from the football evaluation/ decision process is the biggest acknowledgement of that. I may be wrong, but I fully expect them to back the manager and his teams judgement in terms of fees and wages paid going forward. They haven't not ever not really lost on most of their targets. They've just been going after the wrong targets in the main. And even within that they did identify players like Costa, Sanchez and Michytaran. Now they have a top echelon manager that they know they can trust to turn this around and take us back to the top, I don't doubt they'll go that extra to achieve that and make sure we secure that calibre of player if that's who Klopp desires.
Another massive difference/ improvement was the lines of merchandise they banged out immediately on Klopps hire. ****, within a day of his first presser the had 'The Normal One' lines out there. Switch that to 10 years ago and the day after Istanbul with the club store shut whilst the streets are lined 10 deep on the bus tour celebrating number 5. NO longer are we lagging behind like that in the marketing stakes.
Throw in the redevelopment and the extra revenue stream there, and the whole landscape of the football club and the ownership is changing.
As much good as they've done in a lot of areas, there's been a lot to be critical of FSG of for the first 5 years.
But the recent signs are pointing to a lot less the (if they've any sense and stick around with the new TV deal and potential to all what Klopp can achieve here) next 5 and beyond.
