So the last 4 shots from open play on our goal have resulted in goals.

7 times in games this season the oppositions first 2 shots have resulted in goals.

I hate arbitrary stats in insolation but that kind of dispels the myth that Mingolet's a great shot stopper huh?

Contrary to the Mail report, and Sky piggybacking off that, more reputable sources (****, I'd trust YOU guys word over the Mail) are saying we've not made a second bid as yet for Teixeira.

Talks still ongoing but no middle ground compromise fee reached yet.

If Ayre bollocks' this one up .....

I dont think this would be much to do with Ayre in all honesty... If it doesn't go through I think it will be that Shakhtar simply wont lower their price

I'd at least like to see us try meet them half way and offer the Firmino money.

I appreciate you have a value and want that for your buck. And he's not a full International even. But if we are serious about getting back to the very top, and you presume they must be in appointing the manager and changing the structure; than they need to loosen the purse strings both for fees and wages. It's not always for value. but that's what you have to do in the modern game.

The same way Klopp needs to realise this isn't Germany. To quote him from the other day '£20 million is a major sum in the Bundesliga.' Well this is England mate where there's way more at stake and way more money sloshing around so as frustrating as it is, prices get set off that and if you want to hang at the very top, you need to pay it at times.

Just looking at tonights U-21 game and Bogdan being in nets.

Danny Ward couldn't be playing tomorrow could he?

Sat here on the eve of yet another league cup semi, it never fails to amuse me how today's fan has little interest in the League Cup.

Just working back I reckon this is my 12th semi in this great tournament. And this is every bit as exciting as when I was a youngster against Burnley the first. And living in this City, as much as I'd like to, it's hard to avoid Evertonians. And they're all absolutely buzzing for their return with City Wednesday and the prospect of their first League Cup final in 32 years.

Earlier this year there were Arsenal and Utd fans on these here pages not fussed at all at crashing out early. One of only three chances of a major domestic trophy gone but 'meh, we can concentrate on the title race.' I just don't get that as a fan. I mean where would you rather be right now? Sat looking at another boring night in front of the TV or be excitedly looking forward to a semi and the prospect of your team getting to a final and a boss day out at Wembley?

There was a 'Sours fan the radio driving home from the Exeter game last week, who was on his way home from Leicester having won the Cup, who said if it came down to it, an FA Cup win over a top 4 place ANY day of the week. In his words, 'who remembers who finished the top 4 this year in 5 years time? But you'll remember who won the Cup!'

Which as a fan is ultimately what you go for. Days like tomorrow and (hopefully) another final to follow.

Baffles me how people are happy to not still want that above all else.

Not his fault he ain't a full international, Brazil NT picked by sponsors. Part of the reason why he wants to move is so he can be high profile enough to be picked for the Copa America.

Yeah, Flanagan i wouldn't worry too much about - Randall i don't think is or will be good enough for Liverpool

Bit harsh judging the young lad who is being asked to play out of position. He is a midfielder by trade. Also people said the same thing about flanno and look how he turned out.

It may be harsh, but everything I have seen so far has been average at best.. Obviously i hope i am wrong and the lad does contribute as much as Flanno has but he wont amount to anything at this level IMO

Got to agree with Marshall on Randle. Just don't see how he's improved his chances of being in the first team squad at all.

I think the youngsters who have this year are Ward off of his Aberdeen form, Smith definitely (wouldn't be worried at all if he played the Premier League now), Ojo and one of the three holding midfielders who have all impressed. (Well, Brannigan and Stewart this year. Roster from previous but being injured under Klopp.). And they seem mega high on Allan. Just need to sort the work permit out.

Ibe and Gomez are given's as they're head and shoulders above any other kid we have.

Been horrendous gales here BTW. Can't see much pretty football being played.

A night for really digging in and wanting it more.

you going the game tonight? Hoping the atmosphere will be booming

Yup and yup.

In the Kemmy where I haven't been in years (back when it was just the Kemlyn without the 2nd tier) so a bit gutted at that as the Kop should be bouncing. We need to play our part every bit as much as the players. The first leg has set this up perfectly.

im in the main stand, never been able to get tickets for the kop, hopefully will one day. If the crowds not up for it tonight dont know when they we be

Seems a lot of the rumours today are that Liverpool will pay the 38mil asking price but a certain amount of it will be performance based add-ons

Probably the most sensible way of doing it. If he performs we pay a high fee but no-one will complain, and if he doesn't the fee wont increase.

An odd signing for me I have to say, I don't know a lot about this guy so I can't really judge him that much but we're talking £30+million for someone who hasn't even been capped at international level for Brazil and he's 26. Can he really be that good and be unnoticed all this time?

Secondly, he's an attacking midfielder, which to me, if there is one area you do not need, it is this one. Klopp obviously must have some kind of idea how he will fit with Coutinho, but it's still a bit odd to me.

He's not unnoticed, the Brazilian coach doesn't want to/like to pick players who play in Ukraine apparently and that's the reason for Teixeira pushing the move so much

As mentioned a few pages ago, our best play this season has been with Firmino up-front and a interchangeable front 2/3 so that doesn't really bother me that much

With Benteke, Origi, Sturridge and Ings available/to come back our attacking options will be quite good with further improvement likely in the summer
