25 mil was generous, 30 is barmy. Made it clear from the off we want him, but we were willing to move onto other players if they wanted too much.
 
Yeah definitely not worth it. With the exception of elite players from top 3 clubs you can get pretty much anybody in Europe for 30 mil.
 
Lambert deal is officially completed, have to say that's a very good deal for Liverpool.

4 Million gets you nothing in PL but you got proven goal scorer in the league who is beast physically and good technically.

If 30m gets you Fabregas then I have to be honest and say Lallana is not a 30m player. He is great though, I'm sure this deal will go through eventually.. Usually the player and the bigger club get what they want in the end.

We need to push through the Moreno transfer, that's the one that's got me sweating the most right now.

Rumors are that Lallana will throw out a transfer request if the club don't decide to let him move to Liverpool, can't really see it happening mind but I can see the deal getting done eventually. More interested in getting Moreno all sorted first though before some other club comes in for him.
 
Can to Liverpool done deal, Leverkusen said Liverpool have activated the clause.

Not sure how good he is, all I remember is there was so much hype when he was at Bayern Munich and also he played as LB against us in CL and he was awful. Saying that he played out of position so maybe that's excusable.
 
Quite like the signing of Emre Can, can play in a number of positions as was described as one of the brightest talents in Germany last year, perfect for Rodgers to work with.

However, as much as i like the signings of Lambert and Can, a bigger signing would excite me at this stage, although it is early!

Cost of players is rarely based on talent these days though.

It all depends how important he is to that club, how loyal a player he is, contract length and how desperate the club are to sell/ not to sell ETC

I think Barca are looking for around 35 Million Euro which is just 28 Million pounds. Not sure how true it is. Anything below 30 Million pounds for Fabregas is ridiculously cheap in today's market when also considering he is home grown for PL teams and he was the star of PL side not long ago.

Exactly, which is why 30 (as opposed to 25) for Lallana doesn't seem especially odd.

I agree. One of the reason why we couldn't sign Baines last season.

IMO he was worth 15 Million considering his age, position and all that but he was worth way too much for Everton to lose for 15 Million or less. He was worth more than 20 Million for them.
 
Fabregas, as good as he is doesn't fit the Liverpool mould as well as perhaps Lallana does... He would also be on double maybe even triple the wages
 
Deal agreed for Can, then, just got to wrap it up. Good good. That's our midfield cover, and LB cover sorted.

Just need Moreno and seemingly a replacement for Lallana now.

I don't think people are saying we should/will sign Fabregas, just that Lallana's pricetag is unjustified if compared to Fabregas's.

Not in this thread they weren't, mainly mutterings on twitter comparing the prices and saying we should just sign Fabregas. Like it is that easy haha

I've long given up on sensible opinions being found on Twitter...most people on there either know nothing, or they think it's FM and that they are better managers than real-life managers.

On a side note, did anyone see the reported big Spurs put in for Moreno? ?14m + Capoue + Soldado on Loan. Call me crazy but that sounds like a dream deal!

That is massively overpaying. The likes of Capoue and Soldado may not have had a great season, but they still are worth quite a bit.

This is without question turning into one of the best transfer periods that I can remember.
