Yes, its been poor - a mixture of bad luck and stubbornness but he has earned time to turn it around

A mixture of bad luck? I honestly haven't seen any bad luck just bad play. And as much as it paid off last season it's just so frustrating watching Skrtel give it to Stevi to give it to Lovren to give it back to Stevie for him to try a killer ball every now and then.

Saying that he does deserve more time. Definitely. You've got to keep faith it's just really ******* hard of late!

I can only think of him being sacked if FSG decide that they need a quick fix to make sure they are back in the top 4 for next season. If we aren't in it again next season we're missing out on big big BT sport money.

Yes - We have Lost Sturridge, our most important player, for four months of the season when he finally returns

Im not saying it is not frustrating but it is fickle and quite frankly ridiculous to suggest his job should be on the line - It speaks volumes about the majority of fans who a few months ago was lauding him as one of the best and lining the streets to celebrate a potential title win

Now after 12 games those same fans want him sacked - 5 points off of top 4, quarter finalist in the Capital One Cup and destiny in our own hands in the Champions League

Im not saying we haven't played very poorly just that the reaction is embarrassing - Supposedly some of the best supporters around at Liverpool? Nonsense

I'm scared to imagine what we'll see if we don't beat Ludogorets or Stoke.

5 points off 4th place doesn't sound too bad but we're 18 points off first mate. Thank the lord that everyone else is having a **** season as well.

Yes, the next three games we simply have to win - and at the least two wins and a draw

The title was NEVER an option this season - Chelsea are in a different league in terms of every aspect and last season as good as it was, was a one off spearheaded by one of the best attacks going. Losing Sturridge and Suarez will have a bad effect on any side

Like i said, we're playing very poorly but you have to judge the season on other sides as well to compare and the fact Everton, Spurs and Arsenal are only 3 points ahead of us shows its not the end of the world

I'd be less worried about that and more concerned that you're 11 points off Southampton in 2nd, with the same number of games played.

Southampton will drop off, even if its only a little. However, by that point they could already be enough clear to genuinely challenge for a top four spot come the end of the season

He's earned more time to turn it around, undoubtedly. However, he's not helping himself. Spending the money he has, not picking based on form.

The owners have made it clear they expect CL finishes. If we go out in the group stage, I would actually think he'll start be under a bit of fire from the owners.

Seen in his presser yesterday he blamed a lot of it on tiredness through featuring in multiplie competitions...what did he expect? He's gone on for two years saying we need to be in the CL, now we are he's blaming that? baffling. If he didn't want that, he should have got us to drop out of the cl...

How things can change, last season he was best thing since slice bread. What are you saying sack him then?. I wouldn't, look at Alan Pardew at Newcastle a few weeks ago. Don't forget you're missing Sturridge out injured, sold Suarez, Balotelli waste of time, Borini would fit in any top ten premier league team starting eleven and Lambert probably not good enough for a top five team in the premier league and probably brought as backup player anyway. So you are missing so many goals, were you out scored teams last season, because you still leaked goals last season. Probably you over achieved last season because wasn't any great teams last season in premier league. Then met fans, board, coaching staff and players target to get to the champions league ahead of schedule. Also Steven Gerrard hasn't recovered from his disappointment from miss out on premier league winners medal and England's performance in the world cup, not same player this season, I know he's getting older but not that.

Stevie G isnt a holding midfielder i have no clue why Rodgers keeps persisting with him there when we have lucas, allan or can who can play that holding role. We should pay the money to bring Origi back from lone to add more pace to the forward line. Why on earth isnt Sakho playing if he is fit. Week in week out we are using the same team regardless of results i think its time to mix it up abit whats the worst that can happen from that?

I never liked Lucas to begin with, but he soon won me over, & after his performance in Madrid, i feel sorry for him, he deserves a chance in the dm spot, or as you said Can, surely these so called squad players deserve a chance if the regulers aren't performing.

Don't think anyone liked Lucas to start with mate. But agreed he did turn out really well. Injuries have really played a part in his game though I haven't seen anything from him at all since he came back. Hopefully he sees this chance and grabs it.

Would love to see Lucas in DM and Stevie way higher up the pitch were he is useful; scoring screamers and creating chances.

Because Stevie G is not playing as the ball winning midfielder - he is playing as the deeper playmaker, a role which made him have one of his best seasons for Liverpool last year

The absence of Suarez and Sturridge has hit Gerrard more so than anyone as he has little movement from the players ahead oh him so more focus is on his defensive abilities. This is where BR should be changing it. Gerrard at DM works if the players in front are correct

Sakho is still currently injured, but tbh when he has played the defence has looked no better at all - I am starting to think its more a systematical fault rather than an individual aspect - basically, the formation is wrong for the players we have and we are too open

Like you both said, Lucas won around the fans and i thought he was an outstanding player for us before his injuries

But his injuries have seemed to take an effect on him, however he does deserve a chance to play

Im not sure if i would be inclined to look at a tactic similar to that of Rafa Benitez, just to try and sure up the defensive frailties

4-2-3-1 with two holding midfielders who's job is to simply protect allowing the four in front complete freedom to do what they wish...

I am not sure that's the case. You did after all concede 50 goals last season which is an absurd amount for a team that finished second. Last season no one cared about Liverpool's defensive woes because you basically outscored opponents through the brilliance of Suarez and Sturridge. Obviously that isn't the case this season

I never said he was a good defensive player, but Gerrard made our team tick - he had options in front of him so although we conceded a lot still, Gerrard was pivotal when it came to possibly our strongest points and that was fast breaks

Perhaps but when you don't have a great attack anymore then it's very important to be solid defensively which is why the continued inclusion of Gerrard in a deeper role is so puzzling. Don't get me wrong, he isn't the only problem. Mignolet doesn't seem quite good enough for this level. Ditto Johnson. Lovren is yet to find his Southampton form etc.

I know, that's what i said in the original comment you quoted

Gerrard as a DM in an attacking side with the correct players is fantastic but if those players are not there the focus is more on defence and he is not that type of player
