I think he's talking about wages. If the club won't pay sterling x amount what makes you think they will offer x amount of wages to another player if you sell Sterling?

I don't remember the wages we had offered in the past to certain players we bought with too much money(e.g Carroll, Torres, etc) but i think the problem with sterling is that he is asking for too high wage which in compare with his contribution and performance so far he does not deserve.(I am not saying he has been a bad player, he was great, but clearly not so good to demand such a wage.) With that in mind and the fact that Gerrard is leaving in the summer I think we have 1 big wage available to offer(the one that Gerrard was getting) so clearly not waste into Sterling but in someone new that will get us to the next level as a team. And it's easier to give that wage into a new recognized player rather than a 21 years old player, because then Henderson would come out and say I am the captain why is sterling getting that and I am not etc, and would have negative impact in the team balance....but if it is a transfer i believe it would be easier accepted. But yeah you are right... they might as well don't do it....just now is the chance to keep getting in the UCL since United is out of form and don't know when we will have that opportunity again so they should invest in that.

I must say that hendo deserves more money than anyone, he has went from an overpriced youngster to probably my favourite player, his improvement has been amazing, surely sterling is better taking 100k which is crazy, prove his worth then say right double my wages because iv proved myself.

It's not only Gerrard's wages we'll be saving on, we'll also be letting go of players like Aspas, Alberto (though their wages are probably (hopefully) paid in full by their loan clubs), Glen Johnson, maybe Touré and Enrique, Lucas, Borini, and Jones.

Johnson is on big wages, somewhere around £90k+. Touré is somewhere around £60k, same with Lucas. Enrique and Borini probably around £50k, with Jones on lower wages. Personally I hope we keep Lucas for another season, unless we are ready to invest in a proper DM. But that would mean less playing time for Can, and I want to see him in the midfield along Henderson. I have a feeling they can be an awesome pairing. So the best bet would probably be to buy a top CB if we let Lucas go. Then Can can be pushed up to midfield. I wouldn't mind getting rid of Lovren and keeping Touré to be honest. Lovren has been a disaster, and Touré's experience could come in handy on the training ground and in the dressing room.

Then we just need to sell the two italians and get another striker. Sturridge is injury prone, Origi is too young and inexperienced to step up if Sturridge gets another half year injury, and Lambert is just the wrong player type to be starting.

And of course, a goalkeeper. Mignolet has been very good lately, but I don't fully trust him, and I don't Rodgers does either. Either an experienced one or a top talent.

I don't expect to see too many players coming in this summer, and with quite a few players leaving we could end up on around the same salary level, even with renewing contracts. If that's the case, I'd vote for giving Sterling £120-130k + bonuses, no doubt. £150k is still a bit too much, but let's not forget just how talented the kid is. He's still just 20, his work rate is immense, his pace - and especially acceleration - is insane, his tactical understanding is very high for his age, and he is delivering on a fairly consistent basis, plus he's actually English! It would be madness to sell him for £30m or even £40m. We can give him a new contract and still sell him for twice that amount in 4-5 years.

we have been pretty poor so far. Moreno has been terrible

Moreno terrible start, Liverpool terrible start... We need to wake up because this will be our season over if we lose

Thing is we have played better in this 10 minutes as did all second half. Not over yet
