ST ---------- Sturridge

Coutinho / Lallana

Milner ---------------- Henderson

Lucas / Allen

LB --------- Sakho -------- Skrtel ------- RB

Mignolet

I'd be excited about the prospect of Milner if I were a Liverpool fan, a midfield diamond with Henderson and Milner would suit you down to the ground, and get the best out of Coutinho at the same time, and you couldn't ask for two better workhorse midfielders with that technical ability. The only major stumbling point is the need for top quality attacking full backs, and where you would integrate Markovic into the team. That said, Markovic and Lallana could potentially do a job up front, as well as Sterling if you manage to keep him.

I think we are all jumping the gun a bit here too, the seasons just finished, we don't know who our real first second or third choice targets are yet, we don't know fully who is available, as a lot tends to come out over June, so we will see what happens!

I agree that we could try and get better than Milner, I would like to see better, I'm just not sure we actually can if Rodgers stays on this season, we're stuck at the moment!

Sighs. It's fixing to be yet another VERY turbulent off-season at Anfield with little direction and no signs anythings going to get better any time soon.

We've only just finished an utterly wretched season and I'm looking forward to the next campaign with even less optimism/ enthusiasm.

Tony Barrett, who is very good on Liverpool is pretty confident you are lining up Milner, Ings and Benteke. Not saying they are your only targets, but certainly first up. That said, are we even sure BR will last. You need to decide that first, and sharpish

Nah mate, we prefer to go about our business at sloth speed. Ideally, we'll sack Rodgers in late July when there are no good, available managers left. Then we'll get Ings and Milner and convince ourselves we'll be challenging for the title.

Seems as if Rodgers is gonna stay on. FSG still think of him as the right guy. Or maybe they know he's the 'yes man' they want.

if he does stay on SERIOUS **** HAS to change. We're a club made of administrators, and people in finance, and statisticians no one knows **** all about football.

Apparently Spurs are in for Ings as well. As we all know, Tottenham don't have actual scouts, they just look at whoever the other teams are targeting.

At the reported £ 12 million bid Sky are currently running with they are welcome to him.

He'd be a useful cheeper option off the bench but I wouldn't pay anything like that.

Thats all i meant i disagree that milner is top quality, but woulnt you rather shell out top wages to a top player. Making milner our highest paid player when he isnt any better than hendo is stupid.

Doesnt make sense, his on a free in the next couple of weeks. Even his compensation wont be that much.

He's as good, and also would play in a different position. Which top player are you likely to target? The whole issue is that you arent as good at attracting them anymore, and you're not even prepared to pay them top dollar anyway

That is why the whole transfer strategy needs revamping. Besides you dont have to pay top dollar too get good players as southampton showed.

Southampton's transfer strategy is miles ahead of yours. They have an excellent DoF already who works well in tandem with Koeman. You can't achieve what you want until this is rectified.

Tottenham are Tottenham and will always be complete idiots. To be kind.

The gist is they want to bag him before the end of June when he can talk to anyone. But the compensation only figures to be a maximum of £ 5 million.

Related aside, out of Ings, Kane and Berahino, the West Brom striker is the only one I'd pay good money for. Kane has had a terrific season and looks a real poacher. But I'll reserve judgement until the second season. Ings is a threat to come of the bench and would fill your striker depth out well for little outlay. But Berahino really looks to be the complete package. Big, strong, great in the air, excellent technique. The variety of his goals have been excellent and he's played the lone striker well for West Brom which would suit Rodgers down to the ground. Still raw but with better coaching he could be a steal for someone.

Aidy wards his agent, when you've been burnt once why get burnt twice. Avoid his got a bad attitude even worse than sterling.

I guess that's what I'm hoping from all this big shape ups at lfc. A clear strategy that a manager can follow and identifying players tht fit the system you want to play. Rather than buying players that clearly would never fit such a style e.g ballo

The Independent says £6m, but who knows.

I believe compensation would be set by independent tribunal

Tottenham want to complete a deal before he becomes a free agent because they know his preferred choice is Liverpool. However, Ings can reject that move and still join Liverpool as a free agent when his contract expires.

Liverpool wanted to agree a fee with Burnley without the need for a tribunal but that will now be unlikely because of Tottenham's offer... It also means burnley will use it as a way of convincing a tribunal the fee they decide should be higher than originally thought.

Oh absolutely. You cannot continue down the route you are on.
