Gotta' nark Utd that another strong target has gone and this time to their major rivals.

Unless it's now getting spun they weren't ever really interested in him to begin with. ;)

Sounds a lot better financially £ 21 million now. And Phil will be happy.

Be interesting to see where Rodgers looks to play them.

It's not being spun, United went cool about two weeks ago if you believe sky sports... although only Sky Sports said we were in for a number 10 that we don't need...

£22 rising to £29m. No problem with him going to Liverpool at all.

I thought Firmino was linked to City as the alternative to Sterling. If they hadn't screwed themselves over homegrown I'd have made him the target instead of Sterling

Don't get this one at all at this time.

Yeah, seems a strange one... I like Kovacic and think he can become anything he wants to but with Can, Milner, Henderson, Allen, Coutinho, Firmino all wanting a central role in midfield or attacking midfield, it seems a strange one

If we're prepared to buy Kovacic as well as a ST and RB then fair enough (If it's all true, which i still have doubts about, of cours)

Leave Citeh out of this! They are doing everything right!

That's our ticket to the £ 50 million (at least) straight up cash swindle of the Century!

not sure how accurate but a few reports of Chelsea entering the race for him

Jeez, just watching SSN and seen Coutinho's chances created/assists for last season, that's pretty shocking. Di Maria by his standards had a supposedly bad season but still dominated on them stats in the PL. I know stats don't tell the whole story but he has to be doing better then that.

That post about Rodgers not playing to Balotelli's strengths,

What actually are they?

Well only a complete idiot would think you could play Mario on his own, with little to no support, and expect any kind of results.

Not only has that never been his game, you aren't going to get the closing down/ work rate of Suarez in that role from Mario. Now Mario with support, playing off someone, floating around and doing his thing is a completely different animal again.

I aren't going to sit here and attest he was blameless in how last season went. He ****** me off a lot of times with his lax attitude out there regardless of the situation he'd been placed in. But there was also a LOT of times he DID work a **** of a lot harder than he was ever given credit for and the manager didn't hep him one iota.

It's very easy to make a player look bad if you don't like him and Rodgers patently didn't want Balotelli from the get go.

You leave Chelsea out of this too!

This is our summer to do what Southampton did to L'pool and Utd last.

Rob some chump blind!

i don't see how United were robbed ? 27m for best LB in England and he's still got easily 10 seasons at his best ahead of him. Only thing that prevented him this season was a few injury niggles.

A Coutinho continually played out of position negating his strengths explains a lot of that.

Most all the good from Phil last year came down to his own talent and what he did by himself. Not through the role he was stupidly placed in.

Both sides overpaid, but Liverpool certainly got it worse. Makes the Lallana deal look horrific now.

You paid £ 27 million on nothing more than potential.

No question Shaw might develop into a stellar LB for the next decade. But this was an 18 year old with 50 league appearances. I like Shaw a lot, even given his poor first year at Utd. But I wouldn't of wanted L'pool to gamble anything like that on potential. ****, even Van Gaal questioned whether he'd made the move too soon.

We both massively over paid for what we took from Southampton save for Lambert who was a nothing fee.

Coutinho's stats are an indication of when stats don't always tell the whole story... He was vital to us second half of the season

Remember, Coutinho could do all the hard work for somebody to give a simple assist and on paper Coutinho would be credited with nothing

Yeah I agree about him not being a lone striker,

But I don't live up to this Balotelli hype that he's world class player on his day.

Balotelli was a good player in his best days, but nothing more in my eyes. People will show you screamers he scored, but on the whole as a player, nothing much for me. I'm ready to give him another chance as I will with everyone at the club, but it was a struggle watching someone play with so little/no passion for our club.

Everyone knows he needs support, but the fact is neither Lambert or Borini would have give him anything last season.

I think Rodgers will change his style next season, its figured out. So I wouldn't be fooled if he ended up in the plans.
