Beat me to it :P

I don't know. He got to play and score for his team. He turned down a contract extension with Southampton saying at the time he knew he wouldn't play half as much at Anfield as he would if he stayed at St. Mary's but he just wanted to pull on the red shirt at first team level.

Don't think Ricky would of swapped last year for anything. Which is why he's so respected despite being pretty God **** woeful.

He's one of us and got to live the dream. Now he get's to see out his career playing.

Got to respect that.

Thanks for giving everything and being a true pro in trying circumstances Ricky lad and all the best in your new endeavours. (So long as its not at L'pool's expense. But you'd understand that.).

Rickie Lambert has scored ten minutes into his West Brom debut after only joining the club 2 hours ago..

You have to laugh.

How do you think he'll fit into the lineup, play alongside Berahino?

Yeah, certainly at home. Lambert is the identikit Pulis striker. Big, strong, good in the air if serviced right. Should make life a whole lot easier for Berahino who I personally really rate.

I'd imagine away, being Pulis, it will be one up and either or depending on the opposition and what the objective is.

I like Ricky, all the best for him. The guy's living a dream, whether he was a succes in Pool or not.

Few bits regrading Balotelli from James Pearce

James Pearce - The concern was that Balotelli would cause friction and unrest so Rodgers opted to ostracize him (not bring him on tour).

James Pearce: A minority of fans believe Balotelli has been harshly treated by Rodgers & that he deserves the opportunity. They are deluded.

James Pearce: Balotelli wasn’t interested in learning & adapting. A succession of pitiful excuses meant he regularly missed training.

James Pearce is a joke of a writer, which is no surprise as he is a Rodgers mouthpiece. Balotelli no saint, and always a doomed transfer, but Rodgers never gave him a proper chance, and made him a scapegoat from day one. Making him train apart is just childish.

Viable low end fantasy candidate once again.

Pulis will totally play to his strengths.

Lambert knew he wouldnt play as much. But at Liverpool he basically didn't play at all, which is not what he wanted. Really poor handling here.

The thing I find interesting about the misuse of Balotelli and Lambert is that they would have made a good partnership between the two of them.

Someone lower down is going to get a real good player in Jerome Sinclair.

When he came on he was an immediate cut above his L'pool peers and the Morecambe pros. He'll have a decent career. Can't say the same for any other youngster today outside of the other sub Gomez.

Even now with Benteke he's got the perfect chance to give that a go. If Mario then failed to put the effort in or whatever, fair enough. There'd be no excuses there. But at least give him a shot with a partner and support. No coincidence our record and their combined goals record the limited time Sturridge (who openly does nottin' but praise Ballo and wants to have a partnership with him) played together.

But Brendan knows best. And he's again worked this pre-season to his advantage by building the back story putting it all on Mario to then leave dicks like Pearce to tell everyone Mario hasn't put it in and that's why he's justifiably been omitted. Without even being given a chance.

Childish is the word. To make seasoned Internationals train on their own (again, aside from Mario, f knows what Enrique's done wrong except get injured); and treat them like some nomark youth player is childish in the extreme and an absolute disgrace whatever anyone thinks of Balotelli.

The coaches were raving about him a year or two ago, then he got injured wich slowed down his development. You have to feel sorry for the kid he has ings, benteke and sturridge in front him. Just goes to show how hard it is for kids to break into the first team in england. I mean look at harry kane all they need is a run and a bit of confidence and the talent will shine. Considering how peed of westbrom coaching staff were when we poached him, I have a gut feeling this ones going to bite as back on the **** again when he bangs them in for another club.

Yeah, not saying he'd of ultimately cut it at the very top level; but even taking into account it was against League 2 opposition, they still have seasoned pro's out there and guys much older than him and he looked a cut above everyone else on the park from his first touch when he came on. You just know from his instincts and movement, aside from his good technique, that he'll have a decent pro career.

But like you said, if they don't get a chance you'll never know.

Ground # 66 of the current 92 ticked off the list so a good day.

Anyone see anything of the Finland friendly?

Oh God. So he started Lovren again? He's gonna' start at Stoke isn't he being he's been Skrtel's partner most of pre-season and now in the dress rehearsal. Sighs.

So he went:

Mingolet; Clyne, Skrtel, Lovren, Gomez; Henderson, Milner; Ibe, Coutinho, Lallana; Ings.

So what do we reckon for next Sunday? Moreno for Gomez, Lucas in for Lallana and Benteke in place of Ings?

If Sakho isn't automatic first choice when healthy, then I don't know what Brendan is on haha. Far and away our best centre back. Would not mind seeing a Sakho - Ilori/Gomez partnership at some point, could work well as there won't be Skrtel spreading panic, but he's Rodgers' first choice and no way will he be dropped before his partner. I think Skrtl is our second best senior CB, but you never feel confident with him back there, very unpredictable at times. People may say that Sakho is inconsistent, but I disagree, whilst he looks somewhat awkward he's actually our best and most comfortable ball playing CB by a country mile

First look at Firmino in red at Swindon today. (And Benteke for that matter.).

Can't see him starting next Sunday and maybe not Bournemouth too down to fitness but it's exciting to know he's on board.
