Everyone's praising Cou for that goal, but I think Benteke did a clever run to open the space for him, deserves credit for that.

For me the best thing from today's match ( except little magician goal of course ) was the fact that we finally have a decent right back.

Joe Gomez really impressed me. First time I've seen him. Lovren was solid today which is pleasing. Hopefully he builds on that next week and gains confidence.

Big reason Phil wasn't the focal point of our play today is the opposition, the long ball also the same. It's never a good game at the Britannia no matter who is playing against Stoke, luckily that one is out the way, we will play long balls this season but not as much as that, we won the game and while we didnt play great we did the job. And did well defensively aside from skrtel looking slow on the ball.

im glad it's back!

Coutinho's goal was the best thing possible - made staying up until 3am to watch it completely worthwhile! Definitely think that Can and Firmino need to be regularly starting though, hopefully Rodgers realises this. And Lovren was decent but I'd feel much better with Sakho back there. Wish we had someone to challenge for the right sided centre back slot, Skrtel still makes nervous. Mignolet did well I thought, decisive when he needed to be

The one thing I definitely noticed yesterday is that our midfield looks a **** of a lot stronger this season. Milner and Henderson challenged everything. With Gomez and Clyne back there too we looked like we could actually defend. Hopefully it wasn't a one off.

Can see us being really tough to beat this season, just got to make sure we get the goals while were doing it.

Looks like Benteke has been told not to close down too. Although I couldn't help get ****** off when he wasnt doing it in the last minutes. I think with someone playing off him (preferably Sturridge when he gets back then we could see a really good season.

Hopefully we take as many points as we can from these away games coming up!

Seems Lucas and Rodgers had a falling out which is why he failed to make the match day squad and now likely to leave if a decent offer comes in

Press reporting that was he to leave a replacement would be brought it. It could actually be a blessing in disguise

Sorry not Liverpool related, but just saying cheers for your legendary transfer updates you're probably the only reason people can be arsed playing FM after Jan transfer deadline! Just started playing after a year off and already im upsetting the misses. Good work lad!!

Benteke is going to be **** hot for you this season, eclipse the other Belgian fella across Stanley Park!

Did West 'Am end up signing Song?

Why would it be a blessing in disguise. Lucas is the second/third best def mid in the league and when fit should be the first name on the sheet. We saw how the game changed yesterday when Can came on and allowed hendo to push up. A midfield of hendo and milner with hendo sitting deep will not work because its wasting hendo's talent of going box to box. Emre is still young but we cant shoe horn him to be a def mid yet. Let someone specialized like lucas play the role.

Nope - seems something happened and they are signing Joey Barton instead

Because Rodgers is showing no sign of wanting to buy a DM and Lucas leaving will force his hand

I am as big a fan as anybody of Lucas. Always liked him and always been one of the few to rate him throughout but injuries have took a toll and If he was to leave it may be for the best, providing we sign a replacement

Song would be ideal. Solid, proven, good aged prem. lge. vet. Next to nothing fee and Can could learn off him.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind Song at all providing his wages and fee were of a sensible amount

Home grown too.

Never understand the revulsion in the Utd thread when he was mooted for them before Schniderlin. He's as solid as they come in the job he does. Lots of top flight and International experience. Been at some big clubs. Decent on the ball. And not gonna' cost you an arm and a leg.

I really don't understand people baulking at him save for him not being a flashy in name.
