Yeah that was incorrect decision. Either both should be red or none.

IIRC Carra should have seen red before that season when he didn't. It's hard to be in charge in these heated games as one mistake by ref and he sets up dangerous precedent.

And we get a *** like Oliver Sat'day.

Cards aplenty and at least one (wrong) game changing decision. It's his MO. Book it.

Hopefully ManUtd players don't breathe anywhere near him, he will just show them red card.

God i hate that smarmy gits face when he is about to send someone off. The standards of refs in this country is near abysmal imo.

It isn't about the standard of refeere's. There is only so much a human can do when he is officiating ultra-fit footballers in the most fast-paced and intense league's in the world. They are supposed to view a incident, rationalize and make a decision all in a space of a few seconds. It's no surprise so many decisions are wrong these days

Instead of criticizing refeere's, we should do all we can to make their job easier imo with technology

De Gea to have a stromer, Martial to score on his debut... It's written in the stars, isn't it?

Bring. It. ON!

Looks like Ings might be replacing Coutinho after all. Maybe a diamond, with Lucas - Milner, Can - Firmino, and Ings and Benteke up front? Could be interesting.

Man I hope so.

Go right at their weak centre. This years a great leveller. Both teams are pretty much on the same level. Screw worrying about them and playing cautious because it's there. Respect them. But don't fear them.

Fast start. Play our game and let them worry about us!

Still not gonna' jinx anything with a prediction but getting the same good gut feeling I had leading upto Arsenal.

I seriously need to sleep but it's us and THEM! Thought I was growing out of this feeling the night before but it just NEVER leaves you does it?

With absolutely no disrespect intended to anyone else, I wonder if you feel it more acutely when you're from either City and grow up right in the middle of it?

5:30 tomorrow tea-time can't come soon enough.

Not on the same scale as a derby but i am going to my first home match of the season tomorrow, and i cannot sleep either. We're only playing Brentford but its like xmas eve to me!

Just for you, one of my all time favourite L'pool/ Utd games, and one of the surrealist, was that glorious May Sunday back in 1992 when you clinched the last First Division Championship.

We thought we'd messed it up a few weeks before when we drew 0-0 with Leeds at Anfield and handed the lead and initiative back to Utd. But they had that disastrous week where they lost at home to Forrest and at West Ham was it? and Leeds stormed back in front. Then that glorious Sunday .....

You had the early kick-off at Sheff. United. We followed against them in front of the Nation. Pubs heaving. Utd fans over the park on Coaches and in cars glued to radios. Our lads ripping them to f with every Leeds goal in a back and forth tussle until that Brian Gayle oggie won it for yer. Utd then failed to win and Leeds were Champions. We had nottin' to play for but pride. Anfield rocking. Gates locked a good hour or so before kick-off. 'We are Leeds' being belted out on the Kop. Absolutely surreal. Absolutely brilliant. Then an injury hit side did you and ourselves proud in a 2-0 win. Rushie finally breaking his duck against them and ramming their stupid song about him back down their throats. Mark Walters scoring the second and going absolutely nuts with the steward. Always remember a group of Utd lads who'd got on the Kop in the bottom corner, who decided '**** it' early second half and let it known who they were; the bizzies coming charging down the Kemmy side to drag them out, then stopping and letting them take their licks like 'well if you're all so frigging stupid, you get what you deserve' ..... THEN dragging them out.

26 year wait for the title and that beautifully ornate trophy, the last time it was won (not included when they called the old second the first and carried on presenting it) before the PL it went to Leeds.

Town that night was like we'd won the league. Just a surreal, brilliant day and one of my all time favourite Anfield games.

And it wasn't even about us as such lol.

Man those where the days, I was too young but I have vague memories of celebrating winning the league without really knowing what was happening. But that sounds like great fun and i am sure if the positions where reversed it would be the same scenes at elland road and we would be belting out YNWA

Only been to Anfield a handful of times way back when, it always clashed with something, but i did see us win there in 2001 I think. But Liverpool are responsible for one of the worst hidings I have ever seen at elland road when you thrashed us 4 nil, Heskey was phenomenonal a fair few left early but those who stayed (me included) aplauded pool off the pitch.

I'll be honest i do miss us being in the Premier but as I have said a few times to people it does allow me to enjoy watching it somewhat subjectively.

The standard of Premier League football is getting higher and higher and unfortunately the standard of refereeing hasn't kept up. Unless the Premier League start investing a lot more money into training/ recruiting referees or by finding some common ground in relation to using technology, we're never going to see competent refereeing. Merely adding more officials to matches, UEFA's idea of a fix, doesn't really work. More under-skilled officials = more chance of poor decisions being made.

I just don't understand the negative attitude towards implementing more technology to help the referees. They certainly need it. How many years did it take for goalline technology to finally be accepted? It's not more than a couple years ago they started using it in the Premier League. For some reason people don't want the same technology to be used in offside decisions. Why? Has this kind of technology ruined hockey? I don't think so. It made the game better, faster and more fair.

"But football is played by people, referees are people, and people make mistakes!" How the actual **** is that even an argument?

The line-up I said wouldn't happen is very close to the one that's being rumoured for today's game... (Sakho obviously the one missing)

#LFC XI v #MUFC: Mignolet, Clyne, Skrtel, Lovren, Gomez, Can, Lucas, Milner, Firmino, Ings, Benteke.

If true that's brave and we shall see if that was wise or not after the game I suppose!

So far I have to say I was spot on: A vulnerable defence and an attack completely devoid of creativity. What an incredibly boring half.
