Of course a manager should resign if he knows he's not fit for the job. That's what a professional would do.

And I'm not saying Rodgers isn't professional. I just don't think he realizes he's not fit for the job.

Dude this a job for him. If you were being paid millions and knew that if you got fired the severence package would set you up for life would you resign and lose out on all that money. No, no one in their right mind would

Never seen Bentekes goal or Martials. Left in absolute disgust with 15 to play to save being kept in.

Back the Soly down Oxford Road before the train home.

Defended Rodgers the first three. But the last 2 have been an absolute disgrace.. No pattern of play. No game plan. No nottin'. Just how the **** do you start Ings the left ******* wing and leave Bentekes on an island? The fella is tactically ******* clueless. And the REAL galling part is they're equally as ***** as we are. Both sides are as bad as I've ever seen them. (Deny that are your leisure Utd fans but your no better than a 4th placed team at best. Congrats on the win but we're as ***** as each other.).

If he puts kids out Thursday I may not be responsible for my actions.

******* disgrace.

And I've done well to type this as I'm so ducking livid at that 'performance' (term used VERY loosely); I don't know what to tell you.

Rodgers would never resign. He loves himself and his pay cheque too much. He also knows he'll never get a bigger club than wba probably

Benteke's was sublime. Overhead kick Ala Rooney against City

Martial was also a good goal (but some of the hyperbole is OTT) - Had Skrtel in knots but got a bit of luck with a ricochet off Skrtel's legs to go through on goal and finished well

Hahaha wow, the bitterness is strong with this one.

We may not be the best right now, but we're much better than Liverpool and the table at the moment says otherwise to your nothing better than 4th claim.

United are better than Liverpool, but United are an absolute shadow of them former selves - I think that is the disappointing thing

Rome wasn't built in a day, you don't rebuild after a Fergie era and then that disasterous Moyes era in the space of two seasons. But we're on the right track and have the team to build on.

Right now for Scouse to say that we're as bad as you and nothing better than a 4th placed team at best is just insulting and nonsense.

I think it's more about ambition for Rodgers than money. I honestly don't think many professional managers in the top league think the way you're describing. Any manager with confidence knows that it looks better on your resume to realize your own limitations rather than acting like a money-grabbing *****, because you will get another chance at another club anyway. But Rodgers will never get another chance at a club as big as Liverpool. And that's why he won't resign.

People like Dalglish, Carragher and Gerrard would definitely not think the way you're describing, they'd put the club first. Of course, you can argue that they have a history with the club, and Rodgers doesn't. Fair enough. But for me it's not a lack of history with the club that's preventing Rodgers from resigning. It's simply not realizing his own limitations. He's not a very good manager, if you look at the facts. What trophies has he won? None. What important games has he won? None, unless you count Swansea's play-off final. Maybe an important game in that setting, but hardly a big game when you compare it to league-deciding and CL-advancement matches.

In any case, I think this point is moot. What's important isn't why Rodgers isn't resigning, but whether or not he should. And in my opinion, there's absolutely no doubt that he should.

I actually don't think you are much better than a 4th placed team at the moment... The reality for Liverpool is that they are still some way behind that

His statement was 'nothing more than a 4th placed team at best", we have potential to finish above Arsenal and are better than Chelsea at the moment. It just makes no sense. Chelsea haven't been good now for a long time, end of last season can't fool you, even though they grinded out results.

Bitter or not, I think he's spot on. United is kinda **** at the moment, but Liverpool is just worse. The players really have no clue what to do going forward, I think we had maybe one shot on goal aside from Benteke's. You're playing with Fellaini as a striker for god's sake.

And how was the introduction of the 19 year old striker?

I would say we are not as good as City but we have good chance to finish above Chelsea and Arsenal especially if Chelsea don't recover well.

We are not where we are used to being no, but still were comfortably better than Liverpool, and actually have a direction.

If you seriously think that is bitterness I don't know what to tell you.

I'm sat here, untroubled as we argue between ourselves, have Utd fans who have been at the match saying how ***** you are and how ****** they are at Van Gaal. As happy as they are they beat us.

But yeah, this is just 'butter' Liverpudlians talking.

Y'all seriously don't have a clue what the match going fans of your club, particularly the Mancuniams, think.

But hey, feel free to dis me at your leisure if it's your want. Again, congratulations. We deserved **** all today with Rodgers approach. But if you think you're that much better then your delusions are off the freaking charts.

That was an utterly ***** game between two very poor teams.

Would you judge him on a bad debut? Probably not, so why judge him on a good debut? :)

I'm sure you're pleased with the 3 points and Martial scoring on his debut, you should be. I'm just saying you haven't impressed anyone so far, and today you beat a completely clueless team. It looked like Rodgers instruction was "don't concede", so as soon as we crossed the half way line, everyone appeared to think "**** wtf do we do now, where's Coutinho".

Even we are sitting above Chelsea at the moment, and only have 3 points to 2nd place. But judging from what I've seen, we'll finish 5th or 6th. You'll finish 4th. That's my prediction anyway, and it was the same before the season started. The only thing that's changed is the arrangement of the clubs 1-3.

You're coming off both patronising and bitter, and your sense of calm really isn't showing through. Best off putting the keyboard away.

Any man who has time for an affair, time to get a nosejob and tan himself like a ******* orange will never resign. He is a conman at its finest.
