Teixeria is a great player, but he's another attacking midfielder. Do we really need him? I would prefer a striker.

Form his fm stats he is more like a F9 type of player, a faster version of firminho.

Honestly know next to nottin' about him. (Rapidly catching up.).

But if Ayre's flown over the States, there's a **** good chance this will get done. Near £25 million official bid turned down. Reported they want upwards of £39 mill.

This will be an interesting day.

Not least being as Chelsea by all accounts really wanted him and we've heard yet again from Chelsea fans here recently that we can't compete with the (stop laughing at the back) perceived 'bigger' clubs.

Regular signing for me each year on FM, haha.

Seen him 5-10 times perhaps and really like him as a player. It may be the Ukrainian League but his goalscoring stats are fantastic as well.

My exact thoughts. If we are letting one of our AMs go then its ok, as long as its not Cou

He has been playing alot more advanced this season which is the main reason his goalscoring has improved so much

I am happy with the idea of Firmino and Teixeira switching roles with Coutinho behind

Apparently he has 22 goals in 15 games this season. He is in the Ukrainian league though

apparently this is true, he genuinely has pulled his hamstring the curse of LFC as the minute

Now Shaktar have responded with this:

Shakhtar boss Mircea Lucescu has said that Alex Teixeira is not injured and was rested for the friendly yesterday. Conflicting reports.

Excellent player, but genuinely baffled by Liverpool's interest in him. Where exactly do they expect him to play?

At a guess interchanging with Firmino up top (for now) or either just in behind or wide of that.

From what I'm discovering of him it opens up a whole host of possibilities right across the front line. Both right now in terms of MUCH needed goals. And going forward when we ultimately have two up top which I think he wants.

Our best performances have come with Firmino playing up top, so that could be Klopp's way of thinking.

Not to mention when Ings, Origi and potentially Sturridge return with perhaps a striker brought in the summer it gives us plenty of options and depth.

He's an AM rather than a forward, though has an eye for goal. Rate him more than Douglas Costa, personally. Whether he would settle as well is another story

We need goals but have Sturridge to come back (maybe), Benteke, Origi & I guess Ings (long term). So without selling one of those we're not going to sign a striker.

Then let's go a step back and get some more goals from the 3 players in behind. Tex should be replacing Lallana/Milner (4231/433)

Definitely replace Lallana, such a nothing player.

He's got a brilliant first time finish. Would be a tidy signing. I think he is also the level I expect Liverpool to work at. That's not dig at all, mind.

Be interesting to see if this one ultimately gets done what Boston will go to. Like yourself, Shaktar rate him higher than Douglas Costa from all I read and as such seemingly want a higher fee.

Liverpool shouldn't mess around. Without being disrespectul, he's not solely about a move to Liverpool. He wants a move to the Prem. United is a favoured club (historical interview, no idea what he means by favoured), also would be open to Chelsea, and is obviously very open to Liverpool. Short version is, he wants to play in the Premier League, and he wants out as soon as possible. Liverpool will in front, but shouldn't hang around in case others become interested. Because Shakthar would LOVE a bidding war, and will certainly hold out.

Good thing we always do swift business in these cases and never draw things out arguing over pennies!

Oh yeah. Ayre got burned 3 summers back on Mkhitaryan from them after spending months going back and forth. So he won't want that again.

Latest is he's currently in Orlando trying to thrash this out.

Remind anyone of a certain Willian?

There does seem a similar feel to this one with Chelsea sniffing around again, but Liverpool seem to be the most advanced and keen to get it done. Hopefully the likes of Klopp and our Brazilian players will prove a useful tool to lure him!

By reports last night it could take a similar deal to that of Firmino.. mid 20's up front and then add-ons based on success up to around 30mil

If Ayre bungled another one to a club in a worse position than ourselves than he more than wants his **** kicking out the club.
