Bit misleading to say Wijnaldum got 'dropped' last year. Seen that a few times in different articles today.
He played every league game for Newcastle last year with 36 starts and 2 sub appearances. It was only the two game spell of City home and L'pool away late he dropped down the bench. Totally changed the game against ourselves second half which presumably got him back in the team the last 3.
Similar to Mane. You feel if anyone can turn talent into consistency it's Klopp.

I think what you'll see from L'pool next year will be a settled back-line and keeper, and the two in front. Then the attacking midfield three and forward will be where there's the main changes down to opposition, fatigue etc. There's already been a very noticeable change in our play the pre-season games now he's getting that first serious summer of work with them,
And yeah, I'd anticipate we'll be WELL into double figures in terms of departures before the end of August. The squad is WAY too big with WAY too few games to accommodate them all.
Yeah they sell them in two batches over the season don't they, maybe 3?
Cup games go on sale as they come.

Newcastle per se were awful last year. Miraculous Rafa took them to nearly the last game with a chance of staying up.
Yeah, no question he wasn't spellbinding last term. 11 goals and 5 assists over a full league season isn't great by any means for the talent. But if he becomes a L'pool player, you're safe in the knowledge that he at least has the talent. And we've one of the best managers in World football of taking talent that's flying under the radar others don't and getting the maximum out f it.
Be an upgrade and a good addition to the squad if he comes in.

Nah mate, absolutely skint and will be for the next 2-3 seasons. I'm spending a year working in the industry before my final year of Uni so may try scrape through that and get enough credits for when I graduate.
But that's miles off. Until then home cup games and the odd away league game for me!
They were, but he went into hiding, even when Rafa was getting performances out of the team. Talent without application means little. Too early to suddenly be confident in a player.
Not knocking his ability mind, just still a bit of a wierd one, feels like a reactive move after missing out on targets, perhaps to play in CM

Not really, the likes of This is Anfield have suddenly started bigging him up when it's not really deserving.
If you were basing it on his PSV days, thats very different. Similar stats but far bigger performances. Played like a captain should too. But still a question of where he plays and who goes. He's best straight through the middle.
Wasn't directly referring to Wijnaldum. You immediately try and shoot down any sort of positivity that comes from this thread.
And I wouldn't know about This Is Anfield, I don't browse their site.

I think the controlling CM Klopp wants, as per all the reliable sources, is Dahoud. And he's prepared to wait a year to get him rather than waste money getting someone he doesn't want a year down the line now.
So if Wijnaldum fills that slot in say 15/20 games now, with Grujic playing 25 or so, both alongside Can, it then allows Wynaldum to move further forward next year when we get Dahoud. With a year under his belt here

This would be even better if we can work players into any Wijnaldum deal.

That make a lot more sense to me. Suggests Joe Allen's days are numbered though. Will be tough to prise him for Borussia, but worth the fee.

Definitely. On both counts. Not expecting Allen to be here by the end of the window.
I think the captain is under serious pressure this year too. Not least with the lingering injury. This could well be Henderson's last season at Anfield.
He needs to get himself to Spain, he would be excellent there.
Feels like a straight shoot between Wijnaldum and Henderson, which is why I initially queried the deal, but again if Henderson is under threat, then his signing makes sense.

Completely agree. I really hope Sevilla make a decent offer over him going back to Swansea. The slower, less physical game out there would suit his game down to the ground. Technically excellent footballer Joe. Just lacks that turn of pace to get away and he's a little too undersized for the middle in the PL. But as he showed in Europe and at the Euros, the Spanish game would suit him down the ground.
