I’d have gone with AndyRobbo for experience in the ferrel atmosphere these weird C’s are set on with their mad, unfounded hatred toward us. But big Dom has the perfect engine for how we view a right full. And is sound at coming inside when needed. Good, solid spine with Curtis and Ryan.

Straight into these tin-pot chumps Redmen!

Get the bleep in!!!!!!!

And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, is why we are Champions. And that is why the best team in this league, will retain this league!

Title Defence Countdown:
2 wins down/ 25 to go.
6 points down/ 83 to go.

Current PL unbeaten run:
P 3 W 2 D 1 F 8 A 5
2 Straight Wins.

Current unbeaten away PL run:
P 1 W 1 F 3 A 2
1 Straight Win.

So much to unpack, and it’s so different a perspective reviewing a game from watching on the small screen as opposed to not seeing the whole picture live. So let’s do this by half’s.

FIRST HALF.

As expected, Newcastle were whipped up into a frenzy with their proper weird supporters, proper weird, totally unjustified, venom toward us. They were all over us the first half hour. Helped by Simon Hooper getting caught up in the emotion and completely favouring the home side in every challenge. Absolute joke he booked Ryan for our first tattle. After letting Joelinton, and that horrible, snide bleep Trippier late on Wirtz, go unpunished. Add in Konate, who is becoming a SERIOUS liability with his head patently not here. He needs gone before next Monday as much as Guehi needs to come the other way! But we dug in and rode it out with Jones (bar his miss the end of the half), and Ryan superb in forming a defensive shield. With big Dom doing a sterling job at right full. Then an absolute belter from Ryan shut the soft blerts up and changed the game. F off Gordon you horrible, snide 🐀 Well worth ‘getting stuck in’ first half aye lads? Silly C!

Perfect away first half display. Like an old school Euro away. Although I have to say, it was really poor from us to not let them score when they were playing well. Proper unsettled them as squad that. F Scouse bleeps! 😎 ….. Isn’t that how it goes aye lads? 🙄

SECOND HALF.

As opposed to the first, L’pool fire out of the gate to go 2 up and kill the game with the sweetest of goal-scorers. Delicious irony that. Newcastles dream partnership has now destroyed them and will be a Red one by the end of the week. Then it flips again with Newcastle finding an extra gear of adrenaline to come back. L’pool just can’t get a handle on control, Newcastle are brilliant. But L’po dig deep with Jones and Ryan again everywhere and excellent in their commitment and work rate for the cause. And then, just as it appeared we’d thrown 2 points away, step forward Rio for a boys own PL debut. Absolutely sensational way to end a chaotic, brilliant, heart stopping game of togger.

Classic, scruffy away performance in hostile territory that you need to win leagues. You find a way, ANY way, to win!

MOTM- Curtis. The Scouser in our team! 💪✊

Arsenal, City et al will have looked at tonight, a mammoth task at the best of times, intensified with the Isak situation, and thought we’d drop points. Only to turn off demoralised. The fight and mentality in this group is why they are Champions.

Nothing left to say bar the songs of the night …..

‘‘Hand him Over, Hand him Iver, Hand him over New-cas-tle!’

‘Isak’s right, your fans are S!!!!!’

Bring on Arsenal! If anyone thinks that was an atmosphere tonight, wait until Sunday when the professional supporters show you how it’s done!

Up Arne Slots mighty Red Army of CHAMPIONS!

9 out of 10 of our players touched the ball in that final goal, yet the one that didnt, Szobo probably played the most important part. He was outstanding all game imo

Konate has to be moved on. Clearly, head is not in the game and I agree with you Scouse, you mentioned in the summer that without Virgil holding his hand he can be calamitous and for such a big guy he can get manhandled so easily.

Wrote on this after the game last night, but I’m absolutely bouncing into work this AM. There is absolutely NO better way to win a game of football than the way we’ve won the opening two games of the season. My only regret last night, was, down to my personal feeling toward the Saudi’s, I wasn’t there to share on that awesome let-off when Rio lived the dream and then some with his wonderful winner. Arms and legs everywhere. I can but imagine the euphoric carnage. I know I was screaming the house down here haha.

And what made it even more satisfying, and must have totally demoralised every other watching team/ fanbase, was the fact L’pool didn’t play well. At all. But the fact that they have now, two games running, shown absolutely top champions mentality to find a way to win, where many teams will fail, is why they are what they are. The u paralleled best team in this league.

Mad to me how nobody uses context any more as well. You’d think every Red would be proper buzzing after that finish. But the amount of on-line narking is unreal. It’s like people expect perfection, and if they don’t get it, even if their team wins the game, they aren’t having it. 🤦‍♂️ Proper weird way to live your life and follow a football team as special as this but hey ho. Each to their own. To everyone else, the context of everything makes the first two games of our title defence a brilliant experience. The context of it being the start of the season. With no team ever being in full rhythm/ full fitness until at least 5-10 games in. The context of having not only 4 new players in the starting XI, but missing two of the PL’s top midfielders each of the first two weeks in AllyMac and big Dom. The context of the opener being one massive emotional rollercoaster to get through that was far more about remembering and dealing with our loss than it ever was about a mere game of football. And a game of football against one of the hardest working sides in the PL who never stop at that. To pick themselves up off the floor, after being dragged back, to go again and find a way to win was beyond special. And then the context of going to one of the hardest places to win in the league, at the best of times., last night, which was even more feral and wild than normal, with all the Isak stuff, and to pick themselves up again after being dragged back, to yet again find a way to win …… That’s why we are CHAMPIONS!

As there should be after two games, lot to naturally work on and iron out. Not least defensively. But the one thing we do better than anyone else is score goals. EVERY game. You know they’ll sort out the defensive kinks before too much longer. And add that to our ridiculous, never beat mentality, and an attack that’s as good, if not better, than anything else in Europe ….. Scary, scary prospects for the rest of the league when we REALLY start playing.

Again, buzzing this AM. Perfect start to the season that can only get better and batter.

Bring on the perennial pretenders Sunday at a wild Anfield.

The rest of the PL have been put on notice. AGAIN! 😎

Who would you start Sunday alongside big Virg?

JMG or, presuming that’s done after Thursday as expected, Guehi?

Brilliant news on Stefan Bajcetic not going out on loan.

Best place for him and his development is working day in, day out with the World class players in our squad. I feared he'd be looking at another loan given he was incredibly unlucky to miss pre-season rehabbing. But a massive show of faith from Arne. Who obviously rates him highly enough to keep him around. I think in his absence, people have forgotten just what a ridiculously good talent he is. Who was dominating PL games and was by far and away our best player at the time before the injury. Whilst being fast-tracked by Spain through the International age groups.

This makes me even more happy than I am at our perfect start to the season and exciting end to this superb transfer window.

Only thing that will stop Bajectic is himself. By all accounts he doesnt apply himself off the pitch e.g being late and not applying himself in training.

Southampton at home.

Boo! Boring tie. But at least it’s an easy progression.

As for earlier …..

At 22.15 on August 27th they have the FA Cup left to play for.

The famous Manchester United Ladies and Gentlemen.😂😂😂😂😂

Where are you getting that from mate?

Never heard anyone at the club say a bad word against him. 🤷‍♂️

Im a bit of a nerd and watch all the behind the scenes inside training and during his time he was noted for his tardiness and lack of application by squad. Dont get me wrong its not Jermaine Pennett worst trainer at the club 😂 but its still bad for a young up and coming player.

Superb reading on the bus ride home this.

The European draw would be meh if it wasn’t for Istanbul! 😍 Frankfurt and Maraeille be moody. Think we’ll defo do a night in Nimes/ Montpellier or Cologne or similar for both those two to break it up. And Milan’s the most un-Italian of Italian City’s and rather dull. But then the San Siro remains, Cardiff’s Millennium stadium aside, my favourite stadium in Europe to visit. Oh yeah, and ISTANBUL! 😍😍

And just when you think you couldn't love big Nick any more, he sacrifices himself to go Newcastle and expedite Isak to the champions. 😍😍😍

Terrific Thursday this.

Edwards has an absolute nightmare this window peeling the company line. Hope and Downey have been impartial and brilliant through all this. (Bar the one night Hope made an A of himself and let fandom get the better of him.). Dwarfs though has committed career suicide on a daily basis.

His reputation is in tatters. Even Indy proper mugged him off. 😂😂😂
