Sleeping on it hasn’t helped as I’m still fuming at everyone from yesterday. Manager, staff and more so the players who have despicably, completely checked out and are on their holidays.

Before the game yesterday, there was a really good vibe around the place again. After waking up to grim weather, it completely flipped into a very pleasant morning with the sun shining. Ale was flowing and folk were genuinely looking forward to the game and destroying a woeful Chelsea team. One of the clubs we mutually hate more than anyone going back decades. As opposed to recent home games when the boozers have been quiet as the majority have been doing their part to protect everyone’s future in helping with the protests.
Liverpool is unequivocally at its best when a sense of purpose and unison is present. Both as a City. And as a football club that represents the City and all our core values.
The very last thing anyone needed was a three-year, locked in without challenge or recourse, ticketing increase which has rightly led to decisive action from the clubs own supporters board and fan groups. Backed unequivocally by the those it affects. The supporters who are the lifeblood of the club. The ticket hike protest has been another fatiguing element to this incredibly punishing, trying season from every emotional and psychological aspect that has just totally drained you. Thursday’s announcement of a climbdown from the club was greatly welcomed by everyone. Financially, freezing ticket prices for 2027/28 will help many, many people. Collective relief that unneeded, disgraceful worry was put back to bed. And we could move forward just enjoying and supporting our team once more. The club, the team, and supporters now getting back to finding collective unity and purpose again. Trusting each other to deliver results and performance on the pitch. With the unequivocal backing off it knowing dialogue was open once more and we were being appreciated and listened to.
And then the actual game happened …..
They started off sound. Scoring a belter early opener that should have been the pre-curser to many more. Against an absolutely woeful Chelsea team who didn’t deserve any more than the point they returned with. But who showed up the absolutely disgraceful attitude of every last player in Red on the park who showed absolutely no self respect or pride at all. Down to a complete lack of any leadership. What should have opened the door to a comfortably enjoyable Sat’day dinner in the sun with Ryan’s opener, with the crowd fully behind them and with them, turned into the single worst, most passively inept, to be kind, display of
many similar ones this horrendous season.
The lack of leadership starts from the top so the manager needs to reassess and take a long hard look at himself and how he’s preparing and motivating them after a full week to fully prepare. But the basic, non-negotiable things like actually running and tackling comes from within. That's in the individual player.
NOBODY else. And they were
ALL an absolute disgrace to every last one of us yesterday. The amount of arguing and blaming their mates, when their mad egos can’t self reflect and look a themselves, was cringe embarrassing. You can forgive a lot so long as players give everything. Yesterday, from the minute they scored, they gave nothing. Like
so many end of season games we’ve seen
so many times ,under
so many different managers at Anfield he PL era, on their holidays and just playing out the season.
TOTALLY unacceptable. I wouldn’t pay any player this week if I could. A complete disgrace to the club they represent.
Which all left everyone completely flat and confused in the ground watching them make no sense in taking the game they were up in, away from themselves because they couldn’t’ be A to have any self pride for the shirt. And for those silly bleeps among us in the ground that follow them all over week in, week out at great personal cost and sacrifice. And that irritated, perplexed frustration just bubbled all game at this happening again against utter S. To manifest itself in the reaction at the end. Which was to them
ALL for the record. Not
just the manager. But every last disgrace on the park in Red. Yes Ryan, contrary to your egotistical arrogance after the game in saying you didn’t deserve it, you
DID!!!!!
You collectively, and individually, let every last one of us down yet again. The manager has his whole host of issues and legit criticism that have masked and protected you and your mates most of the season. But as much as those old school among us that have being going the game for decades, and still adhere to how we conduct ourselves at the match which sets us apart from most every other fanbase in the Country, which includes not booing, can
FULLY understand the reaction at the end that you had brought about all game by not caring and fighting for us. You all got what you deserved. And you’d better take a long hard look at yourselves and put the graft in on Friday at Villa. Another half-day off work/ overnight for many of us who sacrifice so much to support you that you all continually let down on the regular.
We somehow remain on course for 4th place in the league despite everything. Which at least sets up the summer and next season. All last summers signings will have been here a year and will get next season to show they are the top class talents we bought. We’ll all have put some more distance between Diogo’s tragic void and had a break from that to consign this horrendously trying season to the bin. New, top players will be added the summer to aid the much needed rebuild after Jurgen’s side had run its wonderful course. Arne Slot looks destined to continue as head coach despite plenty of supporters now being against that decision. But is important to keep in mind that none of the noise coming out of the club suggests Slot has lost the trust of the players or owners, despite some worrying performances this season that culminated in yesterdays disgrace. Such continued displays require a massive leap of faith from everyone involved to stick together through this. Supporters must trust the team to deliver. The team and manager need to offer hope in the form of results and performances. The club needs to trust its own supporters board to act in good faith on our behalf in the most important issue for supporters. The cost and viability for future generations to follow in our footsteps and be able to go the game. The supporters board and fan groups must trust lessons have been learnt within the club and continue open dialogue and trust that we are being listened to and appreciated.
We need to be unified as one once more to get everything moving in the right direction. Thursday was a big step toward that. Yesterday was a step back.
No more Liverpool. No more feeling sorry for yourselves. Tip up at Villa and give us everything. And we’ll give you everything back. Secure CL and that’s another small step to unifying the cause.
Nothing is ever as bad as it seems. And next season can be a great one again. But we need you, to work with us, to that end.
Unity is
STRENGTH!
Up the Reds!
