The long term plans at MCFC

Manchester City will be one of the largest teams in the world in a couple of seasons. Exciting times ahead.

now now, lets all get along nicely so i dont have to get involved too much

Swissrambler did a good blog on how City might be able to make the numbers add-up. He's a Manchester United supporter and comes to similar conclusions. It is possible for Manchester City to prosper. But.... there are few guarantees that they will. Chelsea are demonstrating amply the problems of trying to get the foundations in place to support the financial outlays by a super-rich owner. Given the relative difficulties even Manchester United are having in filling Old Trafford (corporate and daytrippers and season ticket holders), a lot of the financial models being put forward by some clubs have to be open to question.

They certainly have the potential to do it but one of the biggest clubs in the world in a couple years? Pushing it a bit tbh

Oh then it must be some other person who posted so much **** on derby match day thread. (H)

These are all my quotes from the derby day thread:

Very entertaining game. Cool finish by Nani who is Uniteds best player. Happy with City though. Keep at them and we can do something here.

I love Zab. He's a top player, very underated IMO. But you're right his lack of speed leaves him exposed quite a lot. you can't play like that against Nani.

Yeeeessssss get in! ^^) Goal of the Season XD

Tickets for the away derby are like gold dust. I haven't been able to get a ticket at the Swamp for over 6 seasons.

He's done quite well to be fair. Handled everything that he's come up against.

Come on City 4 mins extra. About time we scored a late goal at OT

For City? I don't think it was ever really on to be fair mate. 3 or 4 seasons and i think we will be beating teams like Man U away. But we played well today and it was a good derby.

Still a way to go before City are the complete package but the signs are very good.

It will be interseting to see how Arsenal bounce back from Newcastle away but i still think they will have a big say in where the title is heading. I do think United will win it, Their position is very strong now but Arsenal are not out of it yet imo.

The City Pundit??? How the hwll can you not know who Mike Sumerbee is? He is a true English legend. He was saying how Theother pundits where going into a bit of a Man U wankfest when City were every bit as good as United today. So he pulled them up over it. Fair enough.

So yeah i don't know what you're on about mate?

in all honestly its becuase ive probably deleted anything like that if it was said. any way lets get back on track

Not at all Mike. That is everything i wrote on derby day. But you're right, Back on topic if that's at all possible.

P.S. Have you ever wondered why a few people have gone on to insult Sunil as a last resort? The guy is a wum!

Jeez, you dont even remember what you post. Are you 13 or what.. Forgot all the tripe you posted, which Mike deleted.

Few have insulted and many have done the same to you. I was insulted as I'm a foreign supporter and you were insulted as you are just a WUM who dont even know what you post.

Sorry Mike, this is my last post here.

Here's a link to the Swiss Rambler blog about Manchester City's finances: http://swissramble.blogspot.com/2010/10/how-manchester-city-could-break-even.html

Guess much will depend on the development around the ground. At the moment, Manchester (and the whole of Britain) is deep in recession. Never seen Manchester quite like this - would imagine it's not been this bad since the 80s when I was a little kid. Which is my roundabout way of saying, a £1 billion investment is great. But if people are unemployed, aren't going to watch football, aren't paying for the extras around the ground in the new development, well, Sportscity isn't going to make much money is it? As it is City are advertising tickets for matches on buses as they're really not filling out the ground. Think they're going to struggle to break even tbh purely because the regional, national and world economy has tanked so badly that revenues really can't keep up with expenditure of the scale of City's (and Chelsea's for that matter).

When the fair play rules come in, Man City will be just like any other team, will only be allowed to spend what they make, which probably wont be over 30-40mil in seasons to come. Whereas this season they've spent, God knows..

Hmm, maybe if Man City's investment provided employment for the people than it might work, but that'd be a fair way off.

Good plans,

But 1 thing...where do you think the players go after a game? To place 1 or place 2?

1 = Casino Site, 2 = Training Centre. Further land has now been bought

Hmm, if the Casino was still there probably 1, spend some of their ludicrous salary

in places the whole article looks biased but yes there are points which are to be noted and are believeable, still if this is true its a decent financial model put together by City but again a lot depends on them qualifying for the CL as fast as possible

It depends on your assumptions of how the economy will do over the next several years. If you're pessimistic, ManCity is in trouble. I personally think the global economy is going to be **** for several years and the UK's definitely will be as well...the economy is too much tied up in finance, which will only contract, and it's not like they can just switch in to manufacturing due to the global crisis of overproduction.
