Bagged It!

West Brom finished this pulsating season opener on top after a dramatic winner from on loan forward Giorgos Samaras. The Celtic front man slotted home a late and dramatic winner in front of a packed Hawthorne’s in what most will see as a deserved victory.

The eyes of a nation were on both sides and there respective managers, As both make an attempt to return to the top flight.

Newcastle opened the scoring after twenty minutes as Peter Lovenkrands, skipped past the baggies defence, slotting past England international and club captain Scott Carson.

West Brom bounced back just before the break, young full back, Joe Mattock raced down the left flank, finding on loan Rangers winger John Fleck. Fleck who looked to have plenty of passing options available, went it alone, cutting inside Danny Simpson and striking it in the near post.

Newcastle and West Brom battle it out

West Brom looked the stronger side after the break and paid dividends when a looping cross ball from Chris Brunt, controlled by Fleck, and slotted past Steve Harper.

Just when they looked to be in control, Newcastle stung Di Matteo’s side, An excellent long throw from Harper, after a West Brom corner, met the head of Jonas, who played in Lovenkrands to knock home his second of the game.

Simon *** and John Fleck made way for Graham Dorrans and Samaras, with only ten minutes remaining. The Baggies pressed until the 88th minute, Romanian Tamas found space and played the Greek international, which finished with a well placed shot.

West Brom 3 - 2 Newcastle.

I tried writing a story from a reporters view but it gets hard after a while cus there is only so much **** you can type, although you are far superior at writing to me so I'm sure you will do fine Kris.

It is a lot more difficult and challenging but also easier, I don't have to keep using my imagination because I am writing about fact...or fm fact.

Won't be doing big reports on every game, Just key games.

Thanks Aannddyy :)

Gamble Paying Off!
8th October 2009

11 games played,7 wins, 4 draws, 0 defeats, 32 goals scored and just 11 conceded.

Life is looking rosy for West Brom and there new manager Roberto Di Matteo, they sit 2nd in the league, 3 points behind leaders Newcastle, who they beat dramatically on the opening day.

Away points followed at Forrest and Peterborough, before destroying Ipswich emphatically 6-1, at the Hawthorne's.

Former Arsenal Stopper Wright Knocked For 6.

A deserved away point to Kevin Blackwell's Sheffield United was again followed up by emphatic home wins over Plymouth (4-0) and Doncaster (5-0) respectably.

On the 19th of September, Middlesbrough and the Baggies played out a highly entertaining 3-3 draw at the Riverside, both sides played all out attacking football, that made the game of the season to date.

Graeme Dorrans of West Bromwich is challenged by Rhys Williams.

Currently, Di Matteo's side are on a three match winning run, A narrow win over basement boys Crystal Palace, leaving it late they then beat Barnsley 3-1 at Oakwell and humiliated Preston 3-0 at Deep Dale.

Scoring 32 goals in 11 games is quite the feet, the Italian plays adopts a style of play that resembles the Arsenal side of the late 90's, they are happy to play slow, patient football and await the perfect pass or hit teams on the break.

The majority of these breaks come from Dutch international winger Adwele Slory, the technically gifted winger, utilises his pace and skill to get the better of his opponents. The winger has scored 8 goals in 9 appearances
