Looks like we got robbed by Madrid for Ronnie. Has gone to another level this year at this rate will score 80 goals easy in all comps this season. Just banging in Hattrick after hattrick atm.
I don't think we would if he had stayed, especially with our midfield and defence since he has left. You're late to the party if you're realising that now =P I was, probably like most of us, one of those that never wanted him sold. Shame he wanted to leave though :\ Could've easily won the Champions League again with him playing for us.
I get your point. I mentioned that time is running out for those 3. The combination of factors mentioned have stifled them. My main gripe is the stability and team building at the back has been very poor especially because it happened during their stages of development. A lot of time has been invested in Evans, Jones was 16m, Smalling 10m + add ons. They were brought in do be the future of the club but that looks like it has failed.
Now we're in transition it's the perfect time to build with them. The pressure of challenging isn't there as the expectancy is top 4 :O.
The problem with signing the likes of Vlaar and Shawcross is even though they are good and equal to / better than what we have currently, it's short term-ism and that's what has got us to where we are now.
He was never top defender, not to mention his injury problems. He had good World cup and decent season at Villa. And he's almost 30. What makes him United material is beyond me. There are better options there.Vlaar would not be a poor transfer at all, we can't expect big names (as there isn't many) and we badly need the experience as well.
Did you see the performances LVG got out of him in World-Cup? People were comparing him to Beckenbauer he was that good. Even against the top top players like Messi he did really well.
We can all go oh you know what we should aim higher, but we said last year about Hummels, it didn't happen, no indication at all it will be on the cards again any time soon, Dortmund are a club where when they say no they mean it.
I'd be happy with this transfer anyway, prefer it in January as well as we need him sooner rather than later, things are looking not to bad at the moment, but we're still definitely short in the defensive area.
Just looking back now his career has been littered with injuries all the way back to his days in Dutch football. Even couple serious ones. Do not want!He was never top defender, not to mention his injury problems. He had good World cup and decent season at Villa. And he's almost 30. What makes him United material is beyond me. There are better options there.

Going on what LVG said in interview dont think we sign a CB till the Summer anyways. In Jan can see us looking at CMs more than anything else.If there is a legitimate concern for injury it won't happen anyway. I'm disregarding that factor as I don't know what the situation is really with him.

No way. It was 2009. We still had Scholes and Giggs in our midfield - Scholes was aging, but he was still pretty **** good. Carrick and Fletcher in their prime. Vidic and Ferdinand hadn't regressed, certainly not to this extent. Evra was still excellent. With Ronaldo's pace and end product, we could surely have done it. We almost got into semis with our current squad (mostly), almost beating Real if it weren't for stupid refereeing decision to send off Nani.
Don't forget the link up play between Roo and Ronnie as well, they had some brilliant moments together
Tevez-Rooney-RonnieYou mean the second 'Holy Trinity' of Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez? Yeah, I definitely miss that counter-attacking play. It was pure magic at times..
