14 goals in 42 games, with 6 assists, creating a chance a game in an upper midtable Saints side.

Pretting good for a winger.

You don't want James
You're not happy about Mane.

Find me a winger we can buy on that side, that you wont complain about.

James isn't even a ****** winger though, he's a no.10 you'd convert to play outwide, which wouldn't work.

I'm not a scout for the club but if I was I'd be disappointed if I couldn't find a similar alternative to Mane from a foreign league without paying over the top to the extreme.

Incorrect, James started as a winger and is happy right across the front three. He's a very fluid player, happy to shoot, stay wide, cut inside, play through balls.

Yeah. I get people being cautious last summer on Mane his first year. (The exact same way I'd be with Mahrez now. Let's see what he does next season as to whether this is just a Worldie career year where everything clicked or he's just a real late developer and is consistently ready to step up before we go throw silly money at Leicester.).

But that's back-to-back productive season's from him at Southampton now with real development his two years in England.

Be surprised if Southampton don't have suitors this summer.

I'd take any of those two right now. United have a good side when used properly. just needs a few strong additions, we've got plenty of talented youth, and core experience. Its something in the middle that's needed now, and someone to take the demands of Martial on the other flank

Well no one is saying he's a bad player, I'm just saying that to pay a fortune on him is another thing entirely. Personally find it very disheartening to keep shedding out loads to Southampton who find these players in mediocre teams at foreign leagues for 1/10 the price of what we'll buy him off them for.

I still refuse to see how there isn't someone we could go for elsewhere that is worth a punt on rather than spending out big bucks for Mane, I mean he has a decent game but it's not all round great, his crossing leaves something to be desired which is a concern for any winger.

Oh and if I had a choice between Mahrez and Mane, I'd go for Mahrez every single time. Ok he hasn't had two seasons but his first season eclipses anything Mane done. Plus I prefer Mahrez's all round game to Mane's.

They won't, I'd be surprised if anyone was willing to pay over £30m for him.

Plus his 14 goals have come in bundles, like a few hat-trick's here and there. He hasn't been consistently scoring, it is patches throughout an extended run of games.

He really isn't as good as people here seem to be thinking.

We keep reading here that you're on the verge of shelling more than that out for an inexperienced 18 year old with one season and 32 first team games under his belt.

So for a 24 year old who's been a consistent threat for 2 years the EPL, with all the additional TV money flooding in, I wouldn't be so surprised if someone ponyed that up to Southampton.

People will always pay for that speed and threat.

Guess time shall tell, but for me Mane isn't a player you couldn't find in another league, his game isn't anything that really indicates special to me. His greatest threat is his pace and obviously he is pretty clinical when it comes to finishing a chance.

Yeah, in what world are Saints going to accept less than 30m for him?

so why aren't there more players like him then?

Also, you dismissed Kane's brilliant opening season, because he had only done it for a season, yet laud Mahrez?

Can't have it both ways.

I count 5 players in 6 leagues who are teh same age or younger than Mane who have scored at least 10 this season, play wide right and could cost 40m or less.

Two of those are Dembele and Lacazette in fairness, so they could go for more.

The others are Bakamby, Brandt and Boufal

What about Sisto? FM aside, he still looks pretty good.

Didnt look at that league in fairness, but he looked very good in Europa League
If FM is to be believed I think he has a buy out clause of about £10m. Bargain in today's prices for what he offers. Certainly worth a punt. But again a team like Swansea will probably buy him for the £10m, be pretty good, then we'll want him in a few years for £30m

Yeah, but I disagree with your statement about this range of passing. He has a good vision plus he shoots like a cannon.
Anyway, we have a much better pick in Schneiderlin who's a rock solid DM but who's apparently warming the bench. :'(

He does shoot like a cannon, but he's rarely in a position to actually do it. 6 goals total in last 3 seasons is hardly something to write home about.

Kroos is kind of **** tbh. Not mobile enough to play as #10. not good enough at defending to play as lone holding mid, not good enough passing range to play as DLP. Everytime I watch him he's completely invisible and a defensive liability. Bayern knew what they were doing letting him go.

Saying Kroos doesn't have good passing range is like saying Messi can't dribble. Kroos has fantastic ability when it comes to passing the ball crisply and also long range passing.

Madrid don't know how to use him. He is superb playing for Germany and also for Bayern.

There's plenty of tricky wingers out there. Thing is about them - they are very rarely consistent, because things they do are risky and chance of working is rather low.

I would even give chance to Mo Salah. Even though he's extremely left footed, he has great pace and ability to score goals. But getting a winger like him shouldn't be tough, it's the midfield duo/trio. Need someone who can create chances for wingers/strikers. Martial has good movement, as does Rashford. Salah has good movement as well. They are all very fast players who are versatile, with and eye for goal and pass. Mane falls in the same category as Salah, fast direct player. Someone like that is very necessary.
