The Manchester United Thread

Kante makes sense as he would bring balance to Madrid. With Makelele, Zidane understood that deeply. Still make us second favourites being Madrid. But if he's bringing him in to play behind Modric and Kroos that's great for us.
If getting Pogba means losing Kroos, I'd rather not have pogba. My hunch is Zidane will turn Kroos into a DLP playing behind Modric and Kante. This would mean Kante, Modric and Kroos all doing what they do best, which I think should work out pretty well behind the BBC trident.Watch out Barca!

Back to United though, I don't think we need Pogba.I'd like a mid three of Schneiderlin, Herrera and Rooney behind a trident of Zlatan, Mkhitaryan and Martial with Rooney given freedom to move between the 10 and 8 position.

since when does a manger for real have a say in who thay sign thats not how real work and for your sake i hope this does come off dont think your hart could take it if he does not end up with us lol
My heart will be fine. I'm not saying we're gonna sign him just there's a good chance. If we don't hey ho onto the next. I'm not going to comit suicide if we don't get a muppet signing this summer :)

Why are people assuming we would even have a chance of Kroos if Pogba went there? Even if they wanted rid of him sudden;ly there would be a whole host of top clubs after him and considering our relationship with Madrid, they will not want to sell to us.

Our midfield hasn't been good enough for a while now, I struggle to see how that is suddenly going to change without a special player like Pogba being brought in. I'd say we definitely need him, even if not for now, imagine the future we can have building around him.

Rooney/Schweinsteiger/Carrick have a few seasons at most in them. I'd argue Rooney and Carrick have one.

Herrera and Schneiderlin haven't been good enough in United shirt.
Nothing convinces me that Rooney, Scheneiderlin and Herrera trio would work.

Im shocked that most people are still considering Rooney to be a fixture. I think a better midfield 3 set up is Pogba, Schneiderlin, Herrera ...

Lol yeh, Rooney is so **** these days it's laughable, lets face it he is going off his name to stay at Manchester United these days.

Sadly he won't retire from England either because he hasn't broken the Gary Lineker record, I can't remember whether it's for appearences or something else, but I know he levelled it playing in last game against Iceland.

We don't necessarily need him, but we could do with another playmaker, especially one can sit deep. I would take either here

Because Kroos has an interest in United, likes Mourinho, and wnats to be a permanent fixture at a club. Considering he left Bayern, and didnt really get on with Guardiola, there arent that many clubs who can offer that.

Herrera and Morgan, like most players have struggled under LVG, but they are obviously very good players. There is a good midfield there, even without another signing. LVG got the midfield right at all

Genuinely given the choice I still think I'd prefer Pogba over Kroos, not saying that Kroos is bad or anything as he is excellent. But imagine what Pogba could become back at United, it would be a dream and under Mourinho he could be a different animal. If he raises his game a few gears under Mourinho then we will have the best midfielder in the world for the good part of a decade.

Oh i agree, but a massive part of our problem is coaching (or lack of in last 2 years). It's not just about getting Pogba, but raising the levels of everyone at the club. If we dont do that, then even with Pogba we will fail.

I would prefer Pogba, for emotional as well as logical reasons, but i'd hardly be devastated with Kross, put it that way.

Either way we need a playmaker addition to the midfield. And at the very worst they need to be as good as Herrera on top form, if not a level or two above.

Yes, hopefully Mourinho is the man, if he can't then I fail to see who can, in the immediate future at least.

Honestly speaking, our midfield is the least of our concerns, one of the three of Carrick/Schweinsteiger/Rooney can take care of the DLP positionmy main concern is who we would have as a 10 if Mata were to be offloaded.Who should we get?

The problem with that midfield is that it doesn't have a DLP, while Pogba does tend to sit back, he doesn't have the passing range of say, a Kroos or a Schweinsteiger in his prime, the 4-3-3 needs that kind of holder to really work, so I see one of Schneiderlin or Herrera being offloaded if we get Pogba

Real does work commercially and Perez does make a few signings, all he needs is a manager who stands up to him and say that he'll take care of the football side(Mourinho did that and made some great signings- Ozil, di Maria etc).Zidane has done the same by telling him that we don't need DDG.

He will make Herrera that mobile deep playmaker, unless he sells him and goes for another.

The key is the shape. If eh goes 4-3-3 he can sit any one of Schneiederlin, Carrick, Schweinsteiger at the base and pick any 2 of the high energy players in front.

I just have a hunch that the offer is going to be exorbitant as ****(Mkhitaryan at 26.3 Million was a 'sweetener').Oh, and where is Jorge Mendes anyway? With Mourinho being our manager and all, I'd expect him to be on every deal we make.Shouldnt I expect that??

Few rumours going around Ashley Fletcher is going to have a medical at WHU today. Shame good player and has come on a lot, just to many young STRs at the club ahead of him atm. Hope he does well and happy he going to a Prem team if true.

Juventus are desperate to keep Pogba

Whoever gets him will pay a world record fee.

Wonder if tomorrow will be Zlatan day as he will be officially out of contract, and should of collected his loyalty bonus from PSG.
