The Manchester United Thread

Rooney must have something in his contract making him start games, I'm convinced of it.

All in all, good win.

Still think it's a work in progress after all (and no disrespect to Bournemouth) this was a team United should be beating convincingly. Another couple of weeks and we can decide if the team is going in the right direction.

Captaincy. As long as he's scoring the odd goal and assisting here & there, then his captaincy will all but guarantee him a starting place. I for one am not in agreement that he should make way though, he always tends to need games to improve sharpness, anyone else notice that? Almost completely loses his touch after any sort of competitive breaks. But a hungry Wayne Rooney, in a side that believes they can win titles, is an animal.

Judging by recent seasons he needs half a season just to get close to some sort of footballing ability resembling Rooney of old. Although lets face it Rooney will never be the player he once was anymore.

Smalling will struggle to get back in this defence, both Bailly and Blind impressive. Liking the steel Bailly adds to our backline, been missing for a long time.

Fellaini put in his best all round performance for us today.

76 passes, 98.7% pass completion, 6 tackles, 1 interception.

Must say he really impressed me in terms of cleanly sticking his foot in

You do recall that we lost to bouremouth with lvg right? And they were plagued with injuries in that time.

Nah. I think he'll come in place of blind. I'm just dying to see a smalling bailly partnership.

Oh that did, but I'm not following Mourinho led team. Had enough nonsensical drama last 3 years with Moyesy and LVG.
You probably may just want to take it all the way at this point.

Blind so composed and intelligent though, he compliments an aggressive centre half.

Special mention to Herrera today thought he was class. He controlled the game for most parts and his pressing was on another level. Him and Bailly my shouts for MOTM. Bailly looks like he's been here for years so good again today! Zlatan being Zlatan. Martial looked sharper. Our attacking looks better match by match while still looking defensively solid. Only disappointment was Fellaini. Rooney was a bit **** but still scored. Tony V looks reborn under Jose, him and Shaw help our attacking play no end. And nobody can question Zlatans age he ran his socks off today putting in tackles, tracking back and pressing.

Just found this gem:

'When Arsenal last won the league Rashford was 6 years old and when Liverpool last won the league Rashford's father was 10 years old'

:D

Only disappointment was Fellaini.

Think Fellaini did pretty well today, zzeezzy posted some of his stats from the game, think he was pretty decent.
Dunno why Jose didn't start Schneiderlin alongside Herrera and hope he has the Schneiderlin (DM) - Pogba (CM with the free roam PO turned on) duo in his mind.

Thought he was fairly poor today. Put himself about a bit but not much else for me suppose he recycled possession ok. Agree with Schniderlin but I'm a bigger Herrera fan :)

Seems like neither LVG nor Mourinho rate Schneiderlin, makes you wonder who actually approved this transfer.

But where would Rooney play since he evidently has a guaranteed starting spot. Going to get crowded in the center of the pitch. I think it will be Pogba paired with Herrera with Rooney in the #10 role. Schneiderlin will only get on to kill off a match like we saw today.

Not at our best yet always comfortable and in control, with players still gelling. Excellent stuff.
