The Manchester United Thread

20 minutes until we get this team in, I think this game may well be the most important game so far this season... After last weekend's disaster, I would like us to be absolutely ruthless here and not only win, but win well to gain confidence and hopefully get some momentum going with Arsenal at Old Trafford one of a few important games coming up in November.

All I ask for is Pogba alongside Herrera in a 2 man midfield, with Mata behind Ibra in the #10 - THAT'S ALL I ASK FOR in terms of the starting 11.

TWO CHANGES FOR UNITED
Mourinho has made two changes to his team by recalling Darmian and Jesse Lingard. Juan Mata has also been named captain in the absence of substitutes Rooney and Carrick, plus the injured Smalling. There is no place in the squad for Mkhitaryan.

Very confident with that starting team! Pogba back in his best position, Mata in his best position, natural wide men (with the exception that Rashford will be a #9 some day), Ibra up top, NO EXCUSES now.

The only worry, if you would even call it a worry, no defenders on the bench? I know Carrick can slot into centre half if needing to, but thought he would've called one of the younger lads to have as a natural option? Hoping no bad luck with injuries, particularly at the back..

Mkhitaryan with the squad? Has he taken up the role as the mascot Fred The Red because he is invisible again? How the **** does he adapt to English football without playing?

It's a shame the young lads had a game on Friday this week instead of a Monday or I'm sure one would have been called up. Tony V missing due to his arm being sore and getting a dislocated finger against City apparently.

Think De Gea deserved captaincy more than Mata, going off club service.

Dont care who's captain tbh. As long as we win!

Im still old fashioned enough to think it counts for something, in a team to have that captain and influential presence. If I had to pick anyone and disregard club service it would be Herrera.

But yeh a win is most important today, plus it only temporary captain anyway for 1 game as 3 other captains out.

zzeezzy, dont confuse the captaincy for leadership, the latter is important, but you don't need the arm band to do so.

United on top, in control, and playing well. so I expect Burnley to score.

Heaton is a wall today, these havent been poor chances either

Yeah but ibrahimovic should've done better with his first chance. Why not just round the keeper and tap it into an empty net? Mata's nicely weighted pass made it possible to.

He's a good keeper but we can't be using that as an excuse again, another Stoke isn't good enough.
