The Manchester United Thread

It's a 'myth' as you can think of one game to disprove it. Genius.

But hey, your opinion on Pogba has flip flopped that much this year zz pretty much anything you say on him can be taken with a large pinch of salt so I won't bother even trying to debate it.

When has my opinion flip flopped? I've been largely impressed with him this season considering everything and the weight of pressure he was under with that price tag.

I'm not going to reel off every game am I? I can say plenty off the top of my head, Arsenal at home, Spurs at home, City at home in the cup. He's been poor in big games like Chelsea, where everyone was and Liverpool, where the team was setup to contain and he was left as a no.10 for most part and had little to do.

Kante is the best in the world at what he does, Pogba is one of the best in the world at what he does, but what Pogba brings is what we we've been crying out for; creativity, flair, and one of the most important things, probably something we haven't properly had since an in-prime Scholes, a runner from midfield, someone who can chip in with a double figure return each season.

Kante at this stage would be more of a want than a need.

Ander Herrera does a pretty similar job for us, not quite to the freakish levels of Kante, but to a high level.

Ander Herrera is so underrated still, sure maybe not quite Kante but in my eyes he comes very close. He's been very good this season for us. Key to the Mourinho system.

Yeah many of the points we've dropped this season could of been avoided in by many reasons imo.

Some of those by simply starting Herrera with Pogba and not Fellaini in a CM 2. Or Rashford not tracking his man vs Arsenal letting a simple ball from Chaimberlin onto Gironde big bonce. GKs having the games of there lives against us. Peno given and not given against us rightly or wrongly. Brain farts from our CBs at times but tbh they have been good 99% of the time. Yes Kante would of been a good signing. But don't think he would of directly improved are points in the games we've dropped points this season. Pogba on the other hand has been key in assisting at crucial times or scoring in tight games.

Herrera has been the glue in this team since he was started to be picked instead of Fellaini. Could be a future Captain in my eyes.

The only performance in big games I'd classify as 'poor' would be home to Liverpool. In a way, I can cut him slack. Kid grew up at Carrington, so familiar with the meaning of the game, his first taste of it at Old Trafford... all the hype, all the build up, all the world watching, let's take a second to remember this lad is still only 23 years old, he didn't ask to be £90 million... and with all of that, misses a good chance followed by conceding a penalty while trying to get a head to a ball..... tried to do far too much to redeem himself, took too many touches, tried too many hollywood passes, just a poor day at the office.

That's not excusing him completely, but let's not be too harsh from one poor game.

Personal opinion and nothing against Pogba, but see Herrera as more captain material, just something about him.

It's been a while since we've had a proper long term captain. Neville got it, plagued with injuries. Vidic got it, plagued with injuries. Rooney got it, in decline.

Yeah I meant Herrera ;) Remember a recent interview were Fergie said he reminds him of Robbo. And that's some high praise right there!

Looks like Martial has started listening to Mourinho and Zlatan in training now. Getting a consistent run of games and playing well at the same time. Shaw turn next :)

This is been one thing I've been impressed with this year compared to the last 2 seasons!

Kante vs Pogba is a seriously stupid debate. Entirely different players. Kante is vital for Chelsea but it's certainly not for his creativity or incisiveness

The choice between Pogba and Kante for me is clear, you go for the one with the best Juego de Posicion and verticality in their passing obviously. If you disagree with me I will put up some links later
