Kagawa completes United move

Manchester United announced earlier this month that an agreement with Borussia Dortmund had been reached for the transfer of Shinji Kagawa for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old Japanese midfielder has now passed a medical, obtained a UK work permit and has agreed a four-year contract commencing 1 July 2012.

Sir Alex Ferguson is delighted to be bringing the midfielder to Old Trafford. He told ManUtd.com: “Shinji is an exciting young midfielder with great skill, vision and a good eye for goal.

"I am delighted he has chosen to come to United. I believe he will make an impact upon the team very quickly as he is suited to United’s style of play. We are all looking forward to working with him."

Kagawa himself can't wait to get started as a Red. He told us: “This is a challenge I am really looking forward to. The Premier League is the best league in the world and Manchester United is such a massive club.

"This is a really exciting time for me and I can’t wait to meet the team and start playing."

Have to say I am excited to see Kagawa in England especially after seeing his performance vs Bayern Munich in the German Cup. No question he suits Man Utd's style of play and he could form a deadly partnership with Rooney if they click

[h=1]Kagawa only wanted United[/h]
As United supporters around the world await the completion of Shinji Kagawa’s transfer to Old Trafford, we catch up with Bundesliga expert Raphael Honigstein to shed light on the player set to become the Reds’ first Japanese signing…How good a signing have United made?
It’s a brilliant signing. A lot of clubs would have liked to make the move, but United benefited from one of the rare instances where a player had really made up his mind that he wanted to play for a specific club. Of course money is important, but for him it was almost more of a romantic notion of joining United, and the others had no chance. They tried to get very near United’s offer, but Kagawa had made up his mind that this was his dream and he wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity. All sorts of clubs were trying to sign him and I think it’s a real coup for United to get him.
Which other clubs were interested in him?
Well, you never quite know just how far they got because the indications from the player and his agent were always very clear - that he was only going to move to United - so they didn’t get very far. I think Arsenal and Chelsea certainly looked at him, Real Madrid very late on in the game became aware of his potential, but United stole a march on everyone because the player wanted to go there. It’s easy to be cynical and sometimes players just sign for whoever offers the most money, but it’s fair to say this instance was different. He really wanted to go to United and wouldn’t listen to any other offers, as far as I’m aware.
What are his key attributes?
Kagawa isn't an Arjen Robben or a Franck Ribery type who picks up the ball and everyone starts shaking with fear; the guy almost works in a stealthier way. He finds space and he touches it when it’s already too late.

It was pretty obvious from the start he was very keen to join United. Otherwise he would have signed a new contract with Dortmund who are imo one of the biggest clubs in Europe in terms of fan support and are a major footballing force to be reckoned with

I am still amazed they passed a medical i really am lol. I would love to see Utd carry out their medicals, i bet it just consists of blinking lol.

To be fair medicals are pretty **** all round, Hargreaves passed one at Manc City as well after he left United.

No, dont give him what ever he wants. We have a wage heirachy for a reason. 90k should be the mark, with bonuses.
90k a week with bonuses for one of our best players? even though it's reported that someone like Young is on 130k? if the reports are true, then Nani deserves more than 90k...

Young isnt on 130k, he is on 70k with bonuses

Seen on a few sites/papers/mufc that robbie brady, joshua king, micheal keane will all be heading out on loan next season with hull the likely destination and powell, tunnicliffe will be around the first team according to reports from warren joyce.

Could you provide some sort of proof? I'm curious to see, because I've been told different things concerning his contract and 70k seems about right

Got this straight from the the United FM reasearcher, who asked around the club. Think I also have an article somewhere, will had to dig it up. Basically the 130k figure was reported by one paper, and everyone else ran with it, without bothering to check if it was true.
