The Manchester United Thread

Sure but he had already achieved all that he coulf at Juventus by then and was probably aching for a new challenge so resigning was easier. Very different circumstances at Chelsea ...

If he resigns now, where does he go? The Inter ship has already sailed and I doubt he wanted to go there anyways.

I'm not saying he will resign, but Conte without doubt wanted Lukaku and will be ****** off with the manner it was handled. He was asking weeks around for them to break the bank and they only went for it jn a half hearted attempt that didn't even register with Lukaku another very last minute. That Chelsea are in a fortunate position to pick up Morata won't hide that in his eyes.

Looking at the Tour squad. Looks like Varela, Johnstone, Januzaj all going to be sold this Summer.

Also just watching all Lukaku goals at Everton he only scored I think 4 outside the box. And didn't really notice till now how many one touch finished he score from. Which is good as it stops keepers getting set and stops defenders a chance of getting a challenge in.

That interview he did with ESPN about his move was class also!

I honestly love Varela the same way I loved Rafael, I'd always keep them as a rotational option. But that's my opinion.

Yeah liked him. But he ain't as good as our other options there. And it's time for him to move on at his age. Plus had a lot of trouble with injuries and authority last season on loan.

Who are our other options at RB? Apart from Valencia and maybe Darmian but can't think of much else.

Still remember how good he was vs Arsenal under LVG, think he's underrated, not ever going to be the physical presence Jose wants though, sadly.

Dont think he underrated or overrated. He's a decent player and that's it but not great defensively. He won't get a chance ahead of Valencia or Darmian. Plus I'm pretty sure TFM and Tuanzebe will get game time at RFB this season. Like I said at his age he's better off leaving for the sake of his career.

Fun fact: With Rooney having left, Mata is now the clubs current (as in still at the club) leading goal scorer with 38 goals.

Most impressive thing I thought from Lukaku's interview as United player on ESPN was when he said about how he knows he is going to have to work harder than ever before. This shows to me a sign of determination that he knows that he will have to work at a higher level in order to be successful here. At the end of the day he isn't a slouch, as some people would lead you to believe anyway, but it's good that straight away he has outlined this determination.

I'm excited about Lukaku and where we can take him under us, I have my slight doubts still, but I think the pros outweigh the cons.

He's defo no slouch. And ain't bad with the ball either. His touch is off at times but nothing that can't be improved. Very excited!

I was chatting to a Liverpool fan last night (a mate at dinner), and he was ripping the **** out of Lukaku's transfer to United. Saying He is only good against the lesser teams in the league.
Ok...

A little snippet of United last season...

Stoke 1-1
Burnley 0-0
West Ham 1-1
Everton 1-1
Stoke 1-1
Hull 0-0
Bournemouth 1-1

7 points.
Could have been 21 with this Lukaku lad who only turns up against weaker opposition? And we would have finished 3rd.

Just saying ;)

Rooney leaving has just sorta sunk in all of a sudden. Recent decline aside, what a player and legend he was/is at this football club. It almost feels like an old family pet has died or something.

Going to be beyond weird seeing him in a different jersey.

Where does he rank for you lot? I reckon he's in the conversation for all-time United XI. He had everything in his prime.

Bo-jack to Leeds? Cmon, he may not be good enough for United, but lets not ruin his career totally.

A great, not a legend, that bracket is very select few players for me.

His attitude and the way he has pushed the club around more than once has knocked him down a tier from being a legend for me. Still a United great though for sure.
