The Manchester United Thread

Top and bottom of it. Be like Utd losing de Gea. People don't appreciate the drop-off from World-class security to not.

Munich lost a 2 goal lead, at home, to a bang average Wolfsburg side the weekend. They are a completely different prospect without the safety blanket of Neuer and the Bundesliga has opened right up for this season because of it.

They are struggling because they have been playing like *****.

Just got arching the U19s game from yesterday. Think Laird is gonna be one to watch a FB. The youngest was player in the group but looks great physically. Rapid pace, good on in the tackle, and excellent in attack.

Its ancellotti imo. They were going backwards from last October

You know, although we often mock damola over his "genius footballing analysis", he was spot on with Ancelotti when he regarded him as a dying breed of manager.

An old fashioned man-manager with no wacky hipster brand of attacking football?

This guy has done alright over the last few years.

Not sure about dying breed. I dont know any manager of his time who as low intensity a trainer as he was. Carlo's faults were very much his own

Just see from his honours he's only won 4 league titles, is it just me or is anyone surprised it's that low? In 20 years or whatever it is of management at such a high level, having won 3 champions leagues in that time (3!!!), how has he only won 4 league titles? If you think about it, he's sorta domestically underachieved?!

Titles with PSG (2012/13) and to a degree, Bayern too (last season), isn't too much more impressive than Brendan winning the SPL, so even that underwhelming league count is slightly enhanced by fairly easy tasks.

Can't argue with his European record though. Thought he had a chance to break it last season.

He has underachieved domestically, in sharp contrast to Europe

On paper he did, but I'd say that him underperforming in the league is...not maybe a myth, but I guess based on a very flawed sample. He has a pretty good record outside Italy. Whether it was UK, Germany or France, he didn't just win, he won pretty convincingly.

In Italy he certainly underachieved, but then serie A was a total shitshow during most of his years there. All the doping and match fixing and what have you. Who the **** knows if he just did a poor job, or if other teams simply paid bigger bribes. **** knows if the one title he won with Milan is legit, either. Anything in the era between Juve's EPO scandal and Calciopoli is suspect to me.

U18s Finished 1-1 Ramanzani with our goal. Totally dominated but couldn’t score. Greenwood with a MOTM performance just before his 16th birthday.

Late fitness test for Lukaku according to MEN and Ogden

Got to say I'm worried about central midfield long term without Pogba, there is a big step off in quality replacement.

I get using Fellaini in some games has its obvious advantages. But in a game like this where we'll have plenty of the ball, you want Herrera for his Extra quality on the ball imo.

Don't know why Herrera is suddenly so low down the pecking order now, when he was one of our best players last season.
