The Manchester United Thread

UNDER 13's: #MUFCu13's have participated in a 7 v 7 tournament against the top academy’s in the country. The outcome.... Man Utd U13's won the tournament.

U15s also win a 6 a side tournament. Beating Arsenal, Spurs. Then Chelsea in the final 2-0

Under 16s also win at the weekend. Mason Greenwood featured and scored again. Then did the same for the u18s later on in the day.

Mitchell made his first competitive appearance for Hearts today in the Edinburgh Derby in the Scottish Cup as they beat Hibs, apparently it was the first time they managed to beat them in 10 games.

Looked really good going forward, looking the same goal threat that he was for the Reserves. He was better defensively in the second half after being caught out of position a couple of times in the first, made a couple of great interceptions, sharing free kick responsibility already too. Could've scored a well struck volley but for a great save from the Hibs keeper, good start for him. He won MOTM as well.

Reviews from Hearts fans-

A brilliant debut
Great debut. Loves to get forward and seems to have some technique on him.
He'll pish this league.
cracking player, thought he was immense today, hopefully jose will let us have him for another season after this loan expires
Great first touch and good composure for such a young guy. Plenty of confidence too and took responsibility when he had the ball.
Watched him a lot in the 2nd half as I was in T today and you can tell from his decision making and options he sets up that he has been well coached.

Mitchell was unlucky not to score was a good strike, only seen the highlights so can't say much on him but good to see him perform well in a pressure game

ALEXIS SIGNS FOR MANCHESTER UNITED
• Mkhitaryan joins Arsenal as part of the deal

Manchester United is delighted to announce the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in a deal that sees the Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan move in the opposite direction.

Speaking about his transfer, Alexis Sanchez said: “I am thrilled to be joining the biggest club in the world. I have spent three-and-a-half wonderful years at Arsenal and I bring with me very positive memories of that great club and its fans. The chance to play in this historic stadium and to work with Jose Mourinho was something I could not turn down. I am very proud to be the first Chilean player ever to play for United’s first team and I hope I can show our fans all around the world why the club wanted to bring me here.”

Jose Mourinho commented: “Alexis is one of the best attacking players in the world and he will complete our very young and talented group of attacking players. He will bring his ambition, drive and personality, qualities that make a Manchester United player and a player that makes the team stronger and the supporters proud of their club dimension and prestige.

“I would like to wish Henrikh all the success and happiness that I am sure he is going to get. He is a player that we will not forget, especially for his contribution to our Europa League victory.”

Finally! Welcome Sanchez and good luck Mkhitaryan, no doubt a good guy but he didn't take his chances sadly.

well its made my little boy happy, put him straight into the squad on fifa18.very pleased with this signing and think he will be a great success

It will be interesting 2nd half of the season that's for sure. I can't imagine more archetypal Mourinho player then Sanchez, so he should turn out great. At the same time, if Arsenal actually land Aubameyang, they might actually come out strengthened out of this whole situation.

Alexis Sanchez on MUTV: 'Since I was a boy I've always said my dream was to play for Manchester United. I'm not saying that because I'm here now... I always said as a kid that I'd like to play for United, and I once spoke to Sir Alex Ferguson about it.' #mufc

The hilarity continues...

At least you can half believe that, I always laugh when one or two come out with "Since a kid, I've always wanted to play for Manchester City"

Give it 20 years and you wont be laughing because it will be true...

Maybe, Maybe NOT 20 years into the future players will still want to play for United, because even when they aren't winning (the 70's and 80's proved that) top players came to United the same is true of Liverpool currently. If that wasn't the case Liverpool would be in serious trouble. It's about the way a club is run, and about history. In 20 years time the Arabs will have gone from City yet the Liverpool and United economic fan base will remain. It doesn't take a sugar daddy to create a team which players want to go to it takes history, aura, and luck.
