The Manchester United Thread

If that's true, PL teams would be winning CL consistently last couple of years.
Likewise it could also explain why Celtic never do well in Europe ;) Then again Scottish football is currently ****.

PL is too competitive (6 into 4) and with no winter break, they exhaust one another by battling for the top four.

La Liga is in the sweet spot where it's competitive but not so much that it wears out their giants, and is probably part of the reason Madrid and Barca keep winning.

Man Utd u23s play City u23s tonight live on MUTV at 18:30. And th u18s sides play each other tomorrow at 12:00 a win or draw for the u18s will see them clinch the title.

Manchester United
@ManUtd

Jose: "I am not complacent, because I have been working really hard, trying to build motivational sessions with new exercises, with things that could motivate the players. I've tried to raise the levels of training. I’m happy with the sessions." #MUFC

Mourinho on Rashford: “If I was you I’d go in another direction, he is the player with more appearances since I arrived at the club. Because I decide that way.” #mufc

"In every club, at every level, you need more than 11 players but only 11 can start. It's simple. There is nothing I can do [about that]," says Jose. #MUFC

Mourinho on Martial: “If I was you I would go why Lukaku plays every match, why Matic plays every match, you always go to the one, the answer is if you want what I call dry answers, I have dry answers and a dry answer is only 11 can start the match and we are 22.” #mufc

Mourinho on Rashford and Martial, "You are asking me these questions but you should ask every other manager, everyone has players in a similar situation but we are Utd that’s why you ask."

On West Brom's season so far, Jose says: "The quality, the experience, the squad, the stability of the past years - it's a surprise for me that they find themselves in this position." #MUFC

Also said everyone is fit except Romero for the weekend.

Mourinho was asked about attacking options next season
Do you want and need more competition for Lukaku next year?

No, no. If I have more competitions for him I have more comp for the other ones you are saying are not happy because they are not playing. I am happy with my attacking options for next season.

U23s: #MUFC v Man City - O'Hara; Riley (c), R. Williams, Borthwick-Jackson, O'Connor; Redmond, Hamilton, Chong, Gribbin, Boonen; Dearnley.

Subs: Richardson, Warren, Ercolani, Kehinde, Whelan.

0-1 down after 4 mins. 1-1Boonen with a great header just before HT. Just finished 1-1 could of won it second half missing 3 great chances. Lads played well except Redmond and CBJ. Boonen, Gribbin and especially Chong caused them problems all night. Chong with pace and skill and lovely dribbling. Kicked to shreds as per normal. Tough for MOTM between Gribbin and Chong. Roshaun, Riley and O’Connell were great at the back.

*Northern section/ regular season division. Call it what you will.

They’ve altered it again this year so the North/ South group winners play-off to decide who wins the U18 PL. Topping the group just gets you a place in the National Final game. (All very American.).

Read somewhere on reddit it had been cancelled? Turns out that was BS! Even if we don’t win it the difference from last year is absolutely massive!

U18s team to play City now

#mufc U18s team vs City: Kovar, Tanner, Laird, Bernard, Williams, Garner, Galbraith, Levitt, Burkart, Mellor, Greenwood

Subs- Max Dunne, Alex Foijtecek, Dion McGhee, Largie Ramanzani, Millen Baars

Live link if you wanna watch
https://youtu.be/5OBj8V6mRAY

1-0 Utd Burkart with a cool finish past the keeper 9 mins. After mistake from Cities defence. Ooh so close to a second with Levitts cross/shot just goes over the bar.

Great play by Burkart. Skins the fullback puts in a cross to Greenwood who fires at the keeper. City nearly level with a long range effort from Doyle just grazes the bar. Frimpong looks good for City at RB.

Quality volley from Nmecha from 25yrds forces Kovar into a good save. Greenwood with a great bit of skill past the CB just drags his shot past the far post. Great feet!

City should be level Nmecha sits down Laird with some quick feet then smashes the post from yards out.

1-0 HT Greenwood and Burkart been dangerous going forward. Garner just controlling things in the centre. Laird quality as ever at the back no matter which position he plays. But got to admit after Bernard’s first to games looking like a donkey, he’s been absolutely fantastic in his last 6. Pace, Strength composure on the ball. Great steel from Chelsea!

Just seen this :)

Man Utd 16’s beat Man City 3-1 - well deserved win

WOW a goal! Lovely one touch play. Greenwood cuts it back to Galbraith 28 yards out who rifles it past the keeper. What a strike :O and the build up play!

Lol straight from the kick off city earn a corner and Brandon Williams scores an OG with a header. Galbraith yellow could of been red tbh. Here’s his goal - Scholesesque

Greenwood off for Ramanzani 68 min. City on top atm. Simmonds off for City Delebashiri on 74 mins. Laird close with a header.

Get finished 2-1 Finish top of the league. Fantastic lads!!!!! Great to see the lads giving McKenna a water shower and celebrating. North Champs well done lads.

What do we thing about Gelson Martins from Sporting? He's been in quite good form this season. He's been in their first team since he was 19 and constantly is growing. He's quick, tricky and plays on the right wing. He lacks end product though.

Don’t think we will sign any attacking players this Summer.

Why mention signing youth players under this pathetic manager? Negative, ball less manager who has ruined countless youth players careers. Thank god kdb, salah, lukaku decided to leave/kicked out by this pathetic manager. Imagine how much their development would have stagnated under this pathetic manager.

Aside from the inaccuracy of everything else martins is hardly a youth player less than a month shy of 23 over 100 senior games and 17 caps for Portugal. If he counts as a youth player then Bailly should as well so mourinho is doing even better on youth at the club

also if lukaku would be going so far backwards under mourinho why would he re sign for him, some logic behind the vitriol would really help

From the Embargoed presser I watched last night. Mainly Steve Bates asking the questions-

Mourinho: “If you ask me about respect, I say it’s about honesty. When we play bad then, yes, tell the truth. But when we do something positive, then tell the truth. We’re a team that has beaten every team in the Premier League - beaten every one of the top six.” #mufc [Mirror]

Mourinho: “We are a team that in the last three matches, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City, has won all of them. We are a team that has already more points than last season, a team that’s had brilliant matches and a team that showed character many times.” #mufc [Mirror]

Mourinho: “The easy thing would have been to out against Sevilla and then collapse in the Premier League, in the sense that motivation goes down and the quality goes down. I think that we have given proof of what this group is – it is a group of good guys.” #mufc [Mirror]

Mourinho: “When we don’t play well, people have a go at us and I understand that. But when we do good things there is always a ‘but’. It is really, really hard for people to praise the team and to praise the boys. I think it is very, very clear.” #mufc [Mirror]

Don't respond. Just stick him on ignore.

Fellani left out again despite not being injured. Looks like he’s off for sure that’s 3 matches in a row now.
