The Manchester United Thread

The rich have stayed rich and poorer got poorer. In all walks of life.

That's a whole other discussion for a whole other place. You'd like to think, given the pandemic has thrown up that despicable gap in the 'haves and have nots' through society in starker, front and centre contrast than there's ever been, and will only get the worse the higer the unemployment figures rise and more and more people are finding out just what it's like to be put on the breadline through no fault of their own; that things would change the other side of this and that gap would be more levelled out. But the chances of that ever happening, not least with a Government in place the next 4-years which is the polar opposite of wanting that, doesn't fill you with much hope of the status quo changing. But this isn't the forum ......

At least, as regards football, COVID is finally waking football clubs up from there fantasy PL bubble they've been living in the past 3 decades and making them actually run themselves like every other business has to do. Which hasn't been a bad byproduct of this horror at all.

I understand a lot of clubs are suffering because of covid but they're still spending, look at Chelsea. Glazers are the reason united won't/aren't spending, not the pandemic. They're are the reason behind everything that is wrong with the club.

LVG got the treatment, Jose got it worse and now Ole will get the same. The club has zero football people running the club.

Sorry mate, don't buy it at all. If anything it has given clubs more time to speak to each other (lockdown etc, longer transfer window, the hold up to our deals is the prices), more players on the market due to finances. Just look at teams like Chelsea, they knew who they wanted and executed it.

The only difference with United is that we identified who we wanted, Sancho, Grealish etc. but expected them on the cheap... so now won't pay and will go to plan Z and sign Brooks. I mean I'm still laughing at our Brexit FC policy to signing players whilst there are players like Thiago and Aouar on the market. Fair play to yourselves for getting the former.

---------

On another note, The Athletic article this morning Joel Glazer has stuck his nose in the Sancho deal, red alert to our transfer dealings once again. Also confirms Brooks is our Grealish alternative.... sigh.

Oh and that article also says that we are possibly interested but are going to scout Uppamecano but we are interested.......... wtf.
What are you talking about? Liverpool haven't signed him yet lol

Again with the Chelsea comparison. You do understand they had a transfer ban right? All that money saved up from last season and Hazard's sale is what they're investing atm. Besides, they've been haggling Leverkusen over Kai Havertz £90 million price tag for well over a month now.

True but most likely than anyone else from what I've heard, I think more we need to worry about Chelsea and Arsenal this season anyway, who have at least already done some business.

We haven't had a sustained or decent transfer strategy since Gill left his role and that cretin glazer rentboy Woodward took over. We either sign lazy obvious players that anyone can see or galaticos that pretty much never work out.
Our transfers were shambles before then.

£100 million isn't it?

These Bundesliga clubs are proper taking the P.

With add-ons, yeah but Leverkusen want £90 million up front lol They don't believe in COVID discounts lol. More power to them, they exploit the uncertainties of the current climate to their advantage. It's either they keep Havertz, who has 2 more years on his contract or they cash in on a wildly inflated fee. Even in normal circumstances, is Havertz really worth that amount? I like his potential but I wouldn't pay that much for him

#ManUtd defender Di'Shon Bernard attracting interest from #HTAFC Huddersfield and Coventry #PUSB plus a team in Belgium. #MUFC to decide if he goes on loan for season or permanent deal

Hope it’s a loan he’s a good ball playing prospect and great in the air. Stand out defender with Devine in the u23s promotion side last season. Mengi also but he dropped down to the u18/19s on occasions.

Can we please just stop messing around and sign a right sided Denis Irwin? And just another Denis Irwin for the left as well. Please. Pretty please

This might well change over a longer duration with our current two; but right here, right now, the best FB, either side, by a Country mile the PL has ever seen IMHO.
