The Manchester United Thread

I thought whole team looked a bit game rusty tonight, that's because of so many changes again no continuity with the team (squad rotation). Also I've never seen United play badly and be so clear at the top the league?. My fear is a big team is give us stuffing soon if we don't start play better ie Real Madrid?, we can't keep on be lucky, it will catch us out soon!. If West Ham had played any better tonight they would have beaten us!. Lets hope Sir Alex gets them going soon and not just rely on RVP to bail us out!.

Thought Allardyce & Keane were spot on with their views on the penalty incidents.

I was just happy to see Nani in the team because at least he is actually running at the opposition trying to make things happen. Everytime now Valencia seems reluctant to take his man on, it is so freaking depressing.

Fletcher misses rest of season

Manchester United released the following statement this evening (Thursday)...

Darren Fletcher will be unavailable for the remainder of this season having undergone surgery to resolve his Ulcerative Colitis condition.

We wish to stress this was a planned procedure undertaken at the optimal time having achieved a period of sustained good general health, as illustrated by the fact that Darren has trained with the team regularly this season and been available for selection right up to the operation.
Whilst it is frustrating for both Darren and the Club that he won’t be able to contribute further during this campaign, this decision has been taken with our full support in the best interests of his long-term health and we look forward to him returning next season with this problem firmly behind him.We would be grateful if his privacy could be respected at this time and in the coming months in order to aid his recuperation.

Which big team? The ones we have all beaten this season? Have you watched Madrid this season. Manchester United have been playing considerably better than them this season. RVP is scoring because RVP is the focal point, like Rooney was last year. WE have the highest number of different scorers in the league, with 19 different players.

United have been so lucky they have managed to collect more points by this period than that any point in their history.

I hope that you are right when Ronaldo comes to town?. I've been supporting and watching United for 35 years. We don't look like we are going to rip a team to pieces, yes maybe RVP on his own, we need other players to catch up with him. So you are tell me everything is ok then, and there is no problem with our defence at the moment? and of course we are hitting top form right now?, plus we are looking like world beaters?. I can't remember game this season where we totally dominated whole 90 minutes, like we done the past.

For RVP, see Rooney last three seasons, and then Ronaldo the 3 before that, and RVN before that and so on. Youve been watching them for even longer than I have so I dont need to tell you about out focal points. We dont look like it, but that's exactly what we have been doing, we've just conceded more goals than usual in the process, for one reason or another.

You are jumping from one extreme to another. We are playing well, we are in form, we are in better form than Madrid. If both teams were to meet right now on current form this season, i'd make United favourites.

RVP is ripping teams up because of the players behind him. He's certainly not doing it completely on his own. To say that does an extreme disservice to the rest of the squad.

Its not all about domination, its about effectiveness, and right now we are seriously effective. Top 3 in possession, joint top most accurate passers and one of the highest shooting accuracy ratio's.

I think people have become quite impatient when it comes to talking about quality of this United's team and comparing them to great teams in the past. What people have to look is that if you look at our defenders individually they all have been good. Evans and Rafael have been superb. The problem with our defense has been that they haven't got any protection from the midfield. If you look at the games when Cleverley and Carrick have played together you can see that our defense has looked solid too. This team is learning,Cleverley,Welbeck,Smalling,Rafael,Jones have talent and can only get better. RVP's signing has been the catalyst. Fergie knew when he said that he wanted RVP's signing to have the same effect as Cantona and it is happening. You got to look at the fact that this team is basically 1 midfielder of RVP's class away from greatness. Scholes is surely retiring after this season and Fletcher illness doesn't look good at all. Anderson has teased us all long enough and I've lost every hope about him. If he becomes what his talent deserves then great but if not I'm fine with it. I don't want to get my hopes up but I am very excited about our reserves and U-18's team. Some really good talents in there who with the right attitude can make it here.

Does the Fletcher injury mean a swoop for a CM in January?

Surely it would be risky going with just... Carrick, Anderson, Cleverley, Scholes.

Yes and now imagine this team with a class CM brought in.... we would be so much better off for it as well.

Manchester United have taken Leicester City's Jefferey Schlupp on trial

Anyone know much about this guy, is he any good for United?
very good at left back, needs to work on his positioning but not many strikers can adopt as quickly to defence, definetly one of our better players would be a 1st team regular if we didn't have konchesky.

De Gea, Rafael, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Carrick, Jones, Cleverley, Kagawa, RVP, Welbeck. Rooney on the bench.

Diamond returns?
