The Manchester United Thread

That is most likely the away kit as its identical to the new home but black instead of red.

The blue striped one being thrown around that I have seen would most likely be the third kit, as blue is usually third kit when we use it if I'm not mistaken?

Rumored away kit.. Hope this is our away kit..

looks classy if not plain.

buying a player does not necessarily mean paying all up front, and we have the finances to purchase them as shown by recent figures relesed

And the Glazers will do that? Im pretty sure Utd 100% want Sanchez. But i really think that at times Rooney was right. 'Risk of club going backwards'. Not much to spend, Fergie WILL retire in the next 2 seasons... I read Utd have a £13M net spend over the past 6 seasons. Without Fergie im not sure they could do as well

But hey #19 and CL Final!?

Only thing is NEVER live for today, LIVE for tomorrow ;)

Can't say I am happy in the slightest that United have won the league. Congratulations though, a club I hate yet have the utmost respect for, well done.

brilliant post mate, top bloke.

its a lot more complex than that, and not even 100% we want sanchez. Nor is it eeven set in stone that he will retire, please dont passoff assumptions as fact, it just looks silly. Especially when you A) dont know our finances and b) ignore the fact the SAF has said he would be forced to spend this summer, something he has repeated from 2 seasons ago

Much as i despise the glazers business model that have backed some very large purchases...

Watched the game against Chelsea once again. Have to say MOTD pundits got it spot on regarding Park and Valencia.

Park was absolutely brilliant. He chased every ball and worked his socks off (Nothing new). He was helping Giggs and Carrick by drifing to central position and also swapped positions with Giggs regularly.

He protected fullback very well and his awareness was top class. He didnt dewll on the ball, he passed it as fast as he could and also ran at defense, shot from distance. He did everything that a player could do bar scoring.

This was the Park we all love. He was just Unreal. He was outnumbered still came out with the ball. I love Park and what a big game player he is..

FOOTBALL: Premier League says Man Utd will not be presented with trophy on Saturday should they win title - From the BBC Sport ticker.

While not surprising, it would have been nice to over shadow Man City's FA Cup celebrations if they win it ;)

Usually Trophy will be haneded ot home ground. Even if we win at EWood park we will get trophy at OT unless away game is the last game of the season like we did against Wigan.

Transfers 2011-12 In and Out

It's nearly that time of the year again where it seems every player is linked to come through the doors and wear the famous red shirt of Manchester United.

Who do you guys think will be coming to United and leaving United?

I shall start...

In:

Maarten Stekelenburg (Ajax) Not everyone's number one choice but the current Netherlands number one has been linked with United before and if the romous are true, Sir Alex is a big fan. The dutchmen is still only 28 and has plenty of International and European experience under his belt.

Luka Modric (Tottenham Hotspur) After this evenings defeat to Manchester City, I think it will be hard for Tottenham to keep hold of their big name players without Champions League football next season. With the near future of Paul Scholes unclear, I think the Croation play maker would be more than suitable replacement. With plenty of Premier League experience and Champions League experience, Luka Modric would fit in nicely at Old Trafford.

Out:

Mame Diouf Although not given much of a chance at Old Trafford, Mame Diouf I believe will be one of the players leaving in the summer.

Kiki Macheda If the romous from Italy are to be believed, young Kiko could be heading to Sampdoria after a succesful loan this season.

Agree!!! Just not sure about keeper! Would love Neuer to come but i doubt it...

We're apparently back in the race for Young, dont want him.

If spurs lose out to liverpool for europa (which i suspect will happen) i would really like us to test Spurs' resolve for Modric

See I wouldn't mind Young, no disrespect to Villa but Young may play to his full potential alongside better players and I think would offer us something different. Ashley is still young (no pun intended) and is a very direct player, he is skillful, quick and has an eye for goal and more importantly can play anywhere in midfield.

Totally agree with Modric though, he would fit in to the way we play perfectly and with only 5th spot giving a place in Europe this season which I see Liverpool getting, Spurs may be forced to give in if the right bid came in.

Players IN:

Wesley Sneijder - Wesley Sneijder is our number one transfer target this summer, but it will be difficult to sign him from major European rivals Inter Milan. If we do manage to land him, I'd be ecstatic. Perfect replacement for Scholes and a goalscoring central midfielder. Something we've lacked since Paul Scholes was a young lad.

Luka Modric - Think this may be less likely than Wesley Sneijder signing, but if we don't land Wesley, then I can see us making a move for the Croat. Good dribbler, excellent passer and most importantly has Premier League experience so wouldn't take as long to settle. If I could choose between the two [Sneijder and Modric], I'd rather have Luka.

David De Gea - Best possible replacement for Edwin Van Der Sar. Massive, good reflexes, speaks English and is only in his early 20's. Could be our number one for 10-15+ years.

Some form of left back- Not sure who, but definitely think we need someone with Evra beginning to age and Fabio our only real cover. Expect someone young who can be blooded over the next few years to come in.

Players OUT

Michael Owen - End of contract and past it. Can't see him staying.

Mame Biram Diouf - Been poor on loan at Blackburn so can't see him staying for much longer. Probably ship him off to a lowly Spanish side as usual.

Bebe [LOAN] - Had a season of blooding, now expect him to leave to get some game time in the EPL.

Federico Macheda - Think he's been living off his goal vs Villa those years ago and hasn't really shone at Sampdoria. Think we'll offload him.

Wes Brown - Past it and not really needed. Expect us to begin playing Ritchie De Laet where we would have usually played Brown.

Gabriel Obertan - So poor, hasn't progressed at all in the two years he's been here. Expect him to follow Diouf to Spain, or maybe be given a last chance on loan at an EPL club like Bebe.

Owen Hargreaves - Don't think we're going to offer him a new deal unfortunately. A great player ruined by injury. If we do offer him a new deal, I'll be ecstatic.

Couldn't argue with any of this mate, would love to see Modric and Sneijder in the center of our midfield, wow!

In

De Gea, Stekelenburg, or Patricio.
Ashley Young :'(
Lass Diarra
We've been linked with a few South American youngsters so one or two of them.

Out

MB Diouf
Bebe (loan)
Obertan
Brown
Owen
BerbatovPIG

Who I'd like to see

In :
De Gea or Neuer, Phil Jones, Sneijder, M'vila, Valbuena or Sanchez.

Out :
PIG, Evans, Brown, Bebe, Obertan, Carrick, Gibson, Diouf (part of deal for Jones), Owen.

And I don't want to see Ashley Young in a United shirt.

Players IN

Modric: Exceptional player. Sometimes watching Anderson i do feel we dont need any signings, but at least to freshen up squad we need him. And he will walk into our first 11 easily. Pleanty of experience too.

Sanchez: I love him. We have Valencia, Nani, Park as wingers. Giggs is a CM now. So we need some depth. I dont mind a left footed winger like N'Zogbia. But Sanchez is class.

Neuer/Adler/De Gea: Discussed a lot. We need replacement for VDS. In the order Neuer, Adler, De Gea are my choices.

Players Out:

Brown: I like him a lot, but with his fitness issues and quality player ahead of him in peacking order he should go. He deserved first team football.

Diouf: Dont know why we signed him.

Obertan, Bebe, Macheda on loan to premier league clubs.

With Welbeck, Cleverley returning to the team, we will have enough depth.

Fabio's best position should be identified. Whether a RB or a LB or as a Mid Fielder.
And also Hargreaves should sign Pay as you play contract

Players like Pogba, Morrison, King, Tunnicliffe should get carling cup games and few other games as Subs..

If we win the league at Blackburn, hope we see few academy graduates against Blackpool.

Fergie: I almost joined Arsenal

"I was offered the Arsenal job and I wanted to take Walter with me," Fergie revealed.

"I thought I would sound him out when we were on Scotland duty together. We were going to play in Israel and I didn't know that Walter was going to Rangers at that time.

"I told him that I had been offered the chance to go to Arsenal and I asked him what he thought. He was positive, saying they were a big club.

"So I said to him ‘Do you fancy coming with me?’ Then he dropped the bombshell that he was going to Rangers.

"The thing about the Arsenal offer was that they wanted an answer right away but I couldn’t give them one as I was going to the World Cup in Mexico with Scotland.

"So the Arsenal thing fell by the wayside. Walter went to Rangers and then later that year I went to Manchester United."

God we would have been a mid table team had it not for Fergie..

Interesting to think how different it would be - if he had taken the Arsenal job - for Arsenal, Manchester United and the Premier League as a whole.

Its hard to think what would have happened as no one can tell whether SAF would have the success with Arsenal as he had with United but one thing is for sure, the man had gread ideas and implemented it. He made the right signings at the right moment to continue the dominance and also introduced so many youth players.
