8 days to go!

Fergie on Sunday's game, Paul Scholes, VDS and Gary's testimonial match..

Sir Alex Ferguson is hopeful that Paul Scholes will sign a one-year contract offer at Manchester United.

The 36-year-old is yet to tell boss Sir Alex Ferguson if he is going to accept the deal, meaning Sunday's clash with Blackpool at Old Trafford could be the midfielder's last Premier League game for the Reds.

But Ferguson said: "I don't think this will be his last game.

"We have discussed it and I have encouraged him to stay on for another year."

Ferguson confirmed Edwin van der Sar will make his final Premier League appearance.

Despite fears that Ferguson was going to select a very weak team for the encounter, which Blackpool need to win to give themselves the best possible chance of survival, the United boss intends to pick at least half a dozen experienced players.

And Van der Sar, who retires after the Champions League final with Barcelona on May 28, is amongst them.

"I have players who need a game," said Ferguson.

"Darren Fletcher, Paul Scholes, Anderson, Dimitar Berbatov, Patrice Evra and Edwin van der Sar will play."

Meanwhile, Ferguson also confirmed he will give his first-choice line-up some part in Gary Neville's testimonial against Juventus on Tuesday, when former England captain David Beckham will be a welcome visitor to Old Trafford.

"We have to think about that game because Gary has been a fantastic servant to this club," said Ferguson.

"I hope he gets the crowd he deserves."

Manchester United boss baffled by Twitter phenomenon

I don't understand it to be honest with you," he said.

"I don't know why anybody can be bothered with that kind of stuff. How do you find the time to do that? There are a million things you can do in your life without that.

"Get yourself down to the library and read a book. Seriously.

"It is a waste of time.

"It seems to have a certain momentum at the moment. Everyone seems to want to do it."

Ferguson certainly thinks anyone with a high profile needs to act with a huge degree of caution.

"It is responsibility. They are responsible for their actions," he said.

"We as a club are looking at it because there can be issues attached to it. And we don't want that."

When it was pointed out Twitter can bring players closer to supporters, Ferguson was equally scathing.

"It would be better if they did it on the pitch."

Nemanja Vidic has won Barclays Premier League Player of the Year and Sir Alex Ferguson has won Barclays Manager of the Year :)

Fantastic Goalkeeper, still dont want them to win it though ;)

EDWIN VAN DER SAR admits he is dreading his final league game at Old Trafford.

Alex Ferguson's men take on relegation-threatened Blackpool, with the retiring Dutchman due to be handed the captain's armband.
The 40-year-old has revealed he did not even start thinking about the prospect of life after football until a couple of weeks ago.
But the enormity of it has now started to sink in, making tomorrow's occasion all the more difficult.

He said: "I am not looking forward to it.
"It is a sad moment. You don't look forward to those. I just have to make the best of it.
"I wouldn't say it has come round quickly. I had not really been thinking about it. Once I knew what I was going to do, I remained focussed on the games and the training.
"It is only in the last two weeks that it has really sunk in that I am running out of time.
"Hopefully though, the memories I will get this weekend I will be able to keep with me for the rest of my life."

Van der Sar still has a big job to do.
Next week he will be gearing up for an incredible fifth Champions League final, hoping to keep out a Barcelona side that spoiled his night in Rome by beating him twice a couple of years ago.

Has been romoured that EvS will wear the captains armband tomorrow for his final game at Old Trafford. Does that mean he'll get the honour to lift the trophy?

Probably not. Could do what happened in Robson's final season... Robbo and Bruce both lifted the trophy, so VDS and Vidic. Giggs would lift it but he's been warned by the doctor that any more trophy lifting will give him arthritis in his arms!

Sir Alex confirms Hargreaves exit!

Manchester United have called time on Owen Hargreaves' career at Old Trafford and will not offer him a new contract.

The decision almost certainly brings an end to the midfielder's playing days after a terrible time with knee problems.

The 30-year-old managed only 39 appearances during nearly four seasons at United and his tendinitis injuries were a source of frustration for Sir Alex Ferguson as well as the Canadian-born former England international.

Feel terribly sorry for Owen, the guy had all the potential needed to be a Manchester United great. I for one think this could be the end of the lads career, I don't see any club willing to take the chance on him after all his injury woe's which is a real shame. Thanks for the memories Owen, best of luck for the future!

That really is a great shame for Hargreaves, and I'm genuinely gutted for the lad. I really am hoping his career isn't over either-he's still got a lot to offer imo. Would be an absolute waste of talent.

Come to Goodison Owen. You'd be more than welcome!

Its a pity it never really worked out for him. He was a great player but was very unlucky. Hopefully this wont be the last we hear from him

Pity, Owen Hargreaves was truly a brilliant player when fit, he could have offered so much to England and Man United, hopefully a club does take a chance on him and he becomes fully fit and shows us what he can do... Really gutted to see top players have their career ruined by injuries

Couldn't agree more lads. England's best player by far during the 2002 World Cup. Brillant player who can play in a whole host of posistions. His best performance in a United shirt was in the Champions League final when he played at right back and scored a penalty in the shoot out against Chelsea. Hopefully someone will take a chance on him, maybe a pay as you play contract like Michael Owen is on at the moment.

There was no quote from Fergie saying we will not offer him contract. Hope we give him pay as you play contract..

Edit: Saw the quote.. Gutted for him.. Back in 2007-08, I had a big debate on who is the best DM and i backed Hargo and he was one of the best in those days. Shame really..
