The Manchester United Thread

Harsh. Two loyal homegrown player's who've given their all for United. In their role as squad players they've not really let us down.

And like all squad players, there is a time to leave and not too stay too long, Neville(Phil), **** and Fortune all left when the moment was right, Hence why they will always be remembered fondly by us, Brown needs to leave now, before he starts to make more( after last season) mistakes that cost us, Whilst O'shea will simply stop the youngsters from playing if he stays.

What mistakes did brown make that cost us last season? He barely played enough to make any mistakes due to a falling out with Ferguson.
Still, no need to be so demeaning about them. I like the core of home grown players we have and with them leaving and some of the others retiring there's less and less.

Brown seems to be off the pace in every game he plays... That is a given,

With the signings of young and Jones, we have gained some home grown talent, and the Emmergence of Welbeck this season, with Morrison expected to play a big part. Home grown isnt a problem for us, and we can hardly say, lets keep them as they played for us for 10 years now, and are British.

They are probably as valuable to us in terms of experience alone as the money we would get if we sold them. I certainly think O'Shea still has something to offer the club

Some might say Experience is vital., but players like Carrick, Fletcher, Vidic, Evra, Rio, Giggs, Rooney have all won multiple Championships now, With some winning, Also throw in Neville as a coach, with Scholes, they will still have a big part in the dressing room to play, Experience shouldnt be a problem for this Manchester United side.

#ruthless management !

With a move to Manchester United seemingly a certainty, Spanish Under-21 keeper David De Gea continues to talk of his admiration for Old Trafford legends Peter Schmeichel and Edwin van der Sar, most recently in an interview published in AS today.

The Madrid based paper asked the following questions in the build up to Spain U21s encounter with Belarus on Wednesday:

Q. Is it difficult to deal with the constant speculation about a move to Manchester United?

A. I try to stay focused on the tournament. It is important that the players only think about this and not things that are written in the media.

Q. Could it be that a change of agent which goes into affect on July 1, requires that the move to Manchester United will not be made public until then?

A. No. It’s more the understanding that I need to be focussed on the European Under-21 Championships. Keep my head here and not anywhere else.

Q. What do you think about the nickname “Van der Gea,” for your resemblance to the former Ajax, Juventus and Manchester United keeper?

A. Edwin has spent 20 years playing at the highest level. For me he is a reference and a great goalkeeper.

Q. Which goalkeepers do you admire?

A. I look at several. But there is no perfect goalkeeper. Each one has flaws and virtues. Van der Sar was one of the best. But I also like Buffon, Casillas and Valdes.

Q. When you were small, who did you want to emulate?

A. I liked Peter Schmeichel, when he was at Manchester United. He’s the best I’ve ever seen.

Posted in redcafe.. He is coming.. Van Der Gea is coming baby...

As much as I like him to come I just don't trust spanish and german players when it comes to transfers! I will be happy when I see it on official website!

Sounds all very promising. I think he is going to be a major hit at Old Trafford. He hasn't had a lo to during the U21's but the saves he has made look impressive. Looking foward to seeing him turn out at The Hawthorns. Welcome to Manchester United David, the biggest football club in the world ;)

13 is his favourite number, so maybe Park will be sold to make the shirt available?

/conspiracytheory.

well he is 19. Do you think he will say no to barca in the future, that's the problem he will not stay at united till he's retirement.
I'd like to be proven wrong though!

What's that got to do with being Spanish or German?

I think he meant Spanish players want to go back to Spain at any point of their career. Dont know why he added German, maybe wanting to play for Bayern..

Why would he want to move back to Barca? ..

Well that's my point and german players; well can anyone tell me the last german player that sir alex signed.

Real Madrid are going to sign Raphael Varane, according to Matt Spiro from L'Equipe. Arsenal made a move for him last night, but Zidane had already convinced him to go to Madrid... Mourinho will watch him in pre-season to see how he does, and then may send him on loan to PSG for First Team football.

Personally think we've dodged a bullet with this one - sounds identical to Bartley, and wouldn't offer us anything new in the short-term. Waste of £10m for us, and probably for Utd too now they have Jones.
