Have to agree with this. Sometimes we go ott by saying "Fergie is lying" everytime he talks about transfers.

If we dont sign any CM then Carrick-Anderson will be our first choice and can see Cleverley getting many games as CM..

Cleverley will be used this season in the same way Gibson was last season. He'll be used when there is a shortage or when there is a run of games. He'll be happy to play games here and there and he'll be an automatic choice for the cup games in my opinion.

Also, Diouf hasn't really impressed me on this tour. Hope he goes for another loan somewhere. Just isn't Manchester United quality.

Gibson is there to play Gibson role. In the last interview Fergie mentioned his name. I think Cleverley will get few games and also Pogba and Morrison may get few games in CC..

One central midfielder won't make all the difference against Barcelona tbh. Especially considering Sneijder isn't really a CM more an AMC. He really wouldn't be the answer for Barca. He'd help switch the ball from defence to attack quicker, but that's about it really..

Reading through this and the Chelsea thread makes me feel much better as an Arsenal fan =)

Not too many horribly pessimistic Arsenal fans (we learn not to expect too much, and I think I've had some influence with my weekly rants).

From a Utd perspective, looks like Rooney has avoided ex-marital granny ******** this summer. Good for England if he keeps up this form!

You can't beat Barcelona with a 4-4-2, which is our formation. Regardless of your central midfield partnership, you have to get the ball off them before you beat them.

Arsenal beat them 2-1 with a central midfield of Fabregas, Song and Wilshere. Wouldn't say it's world class but it got the job done in the first leg. Barcelona are at that stage where they need to have a bad day to be beaten. We'd have to change our entire game to beat them, because as we've seen - playing our regular game against them just isn't good enough to match their play. One world class central midfielder would not change the outcome of a game vs Barcelona.

We dont have a formation we change as and when needed, last time we beat barca we played 4-2-3-1, and a world class playmaker can make the difference (it did the last time)

I'm not interested in Barca, but I am interested in bringing back the swagger of 2006-2009, and for that we need genuine magic. Barca is relevant because that is SAF's new goal in this team rebuild

Carrick has been superb for us every year except for last year. Very underrated player. A single world class signing in my opinion isn't enough to make us a better side than Barcelona. I believe we can win every game we play, but Barcelona are on another level to everyone in the world right now and it'll take more than an advanced midfielder playing deeper to help us break that mould.
