The Manchester United Thread

Ji-Sung Park, the typical unsung hero. Brillaint servant for us and always performs well on the big stage. Hope he signs his contract extension, he deserves it!

Yes I suppose players like park who come from such humble backgrounds always have much more hunger and drive than others you certainly won't spot park doing a Rooney and holding the club to ransom or something along those lines

our community sheild tickets were oversubscribed so sold out in the ballots, city's are now on general sale, how typical!

As much as I'd usually enjoy ripping on City... I brought a couple of tickets through general sale on Monday AND had mine from the season ticket holders ballot. A limited few were available to those patient enough to stay on the phone for 50 minutes.

Park actually had a fairly comfortable start to life, whereas Rooney grew up in Croxteth

If you think Toxteth is a nasty place to live you should check out where Tevez grew up. Makes Toxteth look like the ****** Vatican.

Can't be that bad, he wants to go back there afterall ;)

He wants to go back to Argentina, I'm pretty sure noone would like to go back to that place. Some five years ago a policeman was killed after his guard post was hit by an RPG. It's called "Apache Fort" for a reason, believe me.

Sounds like an every evening event in Mersyside ;)

[h=6]"We never go to the bottom of what the virus was, but it knocked me back. I am hardly a person who can afford to lose weight, but I did, Now though I am fully on the mend. I missed the run in to the championship and a place in the starting line-up for the Champions League final. It was scary but actually with the diet I am on now I am actually heavier than I was. I feel fighting fit and ready to go."

When you tap on it it says "No Further Information Available".. Nobody else seems to be reporting it though so I'm not sure if it's just a glitch or what?

Manchester United versus Barcelona – Preseason friendly: Match Preview

Manchester United take on Barcelona in the United States of America as a part of their preseason tour to North America. The Red Devils will recreate the European Cup tie as they face off against Pep Guardiola’s team on 30th of July 2011. It will be interested to see how these two teams compete against each other thus let’s take a look at how Manchester United and Barcelona might line up for this encounter in question...

Manchester United

Manchester United must be dreading their tie against Barcelona even though it comes as a part of their pre-season trip to the United States of America. The Red Devils were humbled back in May when both the teams met at the Wembley stadium to play out a highly one sided UEFA Champions League final. Nonetheless a lot of time gone by since the European Cup final. Manchester United have been on an unbeaten run since their loss to Barcelona in London. They have won four games on the trot now and all of them have been against relatively below average opposition.

They battered MLS All Stars in their last friendly encounter as they eventually gained a four goal victory over the MLS’ finest. Moreover, United have brought in some effective reinforcements already in the summer transfer window. Phil Jones and Ashley Young have been playing regularly for the English champions on their preseason tour and it will be interesting to see whether or not they will make a difference to United’s line up as a whole when the Red Devils take on Barcelona.

Barcelona

Champions of Spain and Europe, Barcelona are the team to beat in club football at the moment. It will surely be the highlight of the preseason when they take on Manchester United in Washington D.C. The Catalans have been on fire since their UEFA Champions League victory over United at Wembley stadium. Pep Guardiola has strengthened his ranks by bringing in Alexis Sanchez but the Chilean winger is on a leave at the moment and thus he will not participate in his team’s matchup against Manchester United.

Barcelona’s preseason has been quite successful so far. They have won their last two matches in their preseason tour and Guardiola has been keen to use the preseason as an avenue to test out his club’s youthful prospects.

Team News

Javier Hernandez is set to miss out for Manchester United as the Mexican striker is out with a concussion which he sustained in a training ground clash. Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov will most likely head the Manchester United attack against Barcelona.

Expected Manchester United line up: Lindegaard, Rafael, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Anderson, Carrick, Young, Berbatov, Rooney

Barcelona will be without both Sanchez and Lionel Messi. Both the South American forwards are on an extended break due to their international commitments in the 2011 Copa America for their respective national teams.

Expected Barcelona line up: Valdez, Fontas, Busquets, Maxwell, Abidal, Thiago, Dos Santos, Xavi, Iniesta, Villa, Pedro

Prediction

Not much has changed since Barcelona’s victory over Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League final, thus they are the favourites to win this tie despite the fact that Sir Alex Ferguson will surely field his first team line up to take on Barcelona. Prediction: 2-1 to Barcelona.
