The Manchester United Thread

I'm not saying we have saved football, but i think we have made it fairer.

Fairer for who? Because I'm sure pretty much every other team in the football league didn't get that memo.

Maybe fairer was the wrong word, i think we have raised the profile of the league by attracting some great players, we have made it much more challenging i think, the battle is much more entertaining to watch.

The league has always had great battles, and had a huge profile, and challenges right from the start

If by raising the profile of the league you mean that Manchester City have shown that they are no longer a mid-table team that has now, over a short period of time, become a powerhouse with it's financial power in English football, then perhaps.

But overall the Premier League has been at a high level or rather standard since mid-to-late 1990's, when Sky Sports started to broadcast Premier League matches and clubs were able to spend more as a result of the windfall made in those TV appearances. It was only a matter of time before one club would benefit from some sort of investor, and that was Chelsea with Abramovich.

Manchester City have followed that same trend.

The league need players like Mata, Silva, Yaya, Aguero, Suarez etc....

It must have been frustrating to watch United dominate the league with a midfield of players like Carrick and Fletcher.

Scholes, Keane, Giggs, Beckham, Cantona, up against the likes of Veiera, Wise, Zola, Petit, Silva, Gerrard. great names all through the premier league, of course players before it

If you have come back just to troll, you'll be off shortly..

You put that like these type of players are only just coming to the bpl. What about players like Cantona, Zola, Berkamp, Henry, Le Tissier etc from the past?

edit: Mike beat me to it :( :P

I respect what you have to say, but personally i think sky ruined football and created a huge gap between the top 4 teams and the rest of the teams. It used to be the same teams challenging (Utd, Arsenal), then Chelsea came along and added an extra challenger, other teams like Spurs have also spent money to break in there. Also nowadays, other teams like Stoke and Newcastle seem to be challenging.

Yes Mike there has been challenges, but it was always the same teams until chelsea and city came along, it must be great if you support man utd, but for the other teams its not. I guess as a utd fan you have never seen your team not challenge for anything or be in the ****.

Selective memory me thinks

And before that it was liverpool for 20 years...

Me with the selective memory or Madrista? ( This might be a stupid question but I am tired and I aint the brightest member of this forum :P)

Madrista silly lol. He's only young and always neglects the great players of other teams from the past. which is a shame as there's plenty of footage going around on both the internet and in shops

Not to mention us keeping it close for a while too. they were very enjoyable days. though painful at times sometimes too

Yep, shouldnt forget the bluenoses.

Its all in cycles, certain teams have always dominated certain periods.

Notice how most of those players play for manchester United and Arsenal, you added a few chelsea in there which is fair. I will be honest now i think everyone has a "great player". When city first came up we were lucky that we had one of the best ever players as our manager and a World player of the year Winner so we could attract Anelka, Foe (RIP), Distin etc etc. But other teams around us had poor squads and werent really going anywhere. I feel over the last few years pretty much every club has at least one very good player

Wolves- Jarvis
Wigan- Moses
Bolton- Gary Cahill, Petrov etc
Blackburn- Samba

I could honestly pick one from every team but i would hope you would be getting the picture now. Madridista is right, the reason a lot of people think the la liga is better in America is because they have the big names, Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi, Iniesta etc etc. Im not saying Americans are the oracle of all knowledge, quite the opposite actually, but places like america and asia are big places and they will follow and support leagues with the best players. Go on Facebook (Lame example) and see how many people "like" Madrid, Barca as compared to the english clubs such as arsenal, manchester city and chelsea. Not a great example but there is a whole world out there and other teams need to bring the likes of Yaya, Aguero, Suarez, Mata, Ramires to the league.

In what way is that trolling? He was giving his input, and because he didn't say "United are the best team" or something along those lines, you accuse him of trolling?

Give over Mike, you use your mod powers to infract/ban people who disagree with you, and don't lick United's ****, and I can assure you, I'm not the only person on this forum who thinks the same.

Why do you insist on coming on here then if you don't like how it's run?
