The Manchester United Thread

What a run in we had.
Arsenal away,
Chelsea away
Norwich away
Spurs away
Liverpool home
Stoke home (which is easy one so I will ignore it)

We got 16/18 points. That is some form. We didn't play well in few games but still came out with 3 points.

This is going to be a very interesting run in for the title. I still believe it will be United to win it but we shall see

Just a question but is Macheda living off his aston villa goal?

As imo he cant be very good if he cant get in QPR's team *no offence to QPR and its fans*

Do you think in the summer you will sell him?

Macheda is living off that 2 month span where he played 4 games and scored 4 goals all from the bench - Not a bad way to make a living if you're Italian and more interested in Fashion that football!

Could someone shed some light on what Macheda said? Apparently been fined £15,000 for "homophobic" remarks.

The National is reporting that Pogba has signed for Juventus. Agent received fee of 2 Million.

Gutted with the news, looked top prospect but good to lose these type of players now rather than later when we build our team around them.

Btw, Raioa is the biggest **** in the football. I mean its between him and Kia.

Gary Neville is a brilliant commentator/pundit.

Actually really enjoy listening to him.

Hated when i first heard he was joining sky but know he is the best comm/pundit on sky! imo :)

A bit harsh seeing as he's never really expressed an interest in fashion as far as I know.

The abuse Macheda has got is pretty unfair really. People have been calling him **** for at least a year, maybe two, due to him living off the goals in the 08-09 title race as if at the age of 18/19 the fact that he had only scored 2 massive goals in a title race was not good enough. Like there were lots of other players at his age who'd made just as much impact if not more in the top flight. The mere fact that as a teenager he was anywhere near the first team squad of such a big club is fairly impressive.

I'm not saying that Macheda hasn't played badly for us but you have to take these things into account. He was being slagged off for not producing regularly when played despite the fact that he was a teenager who only ever played in makeshift teams and often not in his position. Whereas other players at a similar age were praised despite hardly ever being trusted to play in the first team and having made no impact.

It's hardly his fault that he wasn't able to live up to the crazy expectation levels that were created by his heroics against Aston Villa. He was given a chance because we were desperate; he was never ready to make a consistent impact in the premier league, he was only 17. Those goals should have just been treated as a fantastic bonus from him but they've just become a stick to beat him with.

Although I do think some of the abuse he's taken has been unreasonable I think it's starting to look like he won't make it here even though he is still only 20 years old. I held out some hope before the season started that he could push on like Danny Welbeck did last year but he wasted the first half of the season in our reserves (not his fault) and now he's stuck in a nightmare of a loan. He seemed to have made some improvements in his game but his decision making was pretty woeful when I've saw him play this year. Which could have hopefully improved with a run of games and some experience on loan but sadly not.

^^ I wasn't really slagging him off m8...

Just highlighting that he hasn't produced anything since and appears to be resting on the fact that he was a Hero for united back then. Even on his loan to Sampdoria he was largely disappointing. He has the Ego to go along with a club hero but he hasn't done anything since to prove that he deserves that credit.

Its not abuse of Macheda, it's being realistic. Welbeck went on Loan to Sunderland and lit up the stadium of light. Macheda went to Sampdoria and did nothing as they were relegated from Serie A. It's nothing against Macheda it just shows that when he was given the opportunity to make an impression on Sir Alex, he didnt do it at Sampdoria and he isnt doing it at QPR. This is football its a harshly run business, those who take there opportunities get rewarded and those who dont get beaten in the press, the price you pay for earning so much and being in the public eye.

I am disappointed by the news of Pogba but not surprised! I thought he'd much more sense than Morrison but No! Is there anybody in the remaining youth team of ours who don't have the attitude like these two? I was just saying to my friend the other day that Real Love and affection for the hardly exists in any current team everybody is a mercenary!

I'd like to point out that the sources aren't that well known and could just be rumours. No word from United, Juventus or Pogba and his agent Mino Raiola[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif].

Mina Raiola is a bit of an idiot and one of those 'bad agent' types so I think that the rumours are not exactly outrageous but highly plausible. Pogba is apparently going to pocket 1m a season if reports are to be believed

I read 15k a week. Which I think is what he's on now with United. I also read that Pogba's contract is ending this season but I've also read somewhere that Ferguson said it ends next season.
So it's all talk and rumours until Man Utd, Juventus or Pogba himself actually says it's true.

But if it is true, We've lost our two most talked about youth talents in one season. Kinda sad for us.

I know. The first paragraph was the only part really directed at you. The rest was more just something that annoyed me in general about the level of criticism he's been getting the past few years.

It's hardly being realistic to slag someone off for only having 4 goals for a club as big as Manchester United at the age of 19.

I'm not saying that he shouldn't be criticised but just that some of the logic that has gone along with his criticism is retarded. Criticise him for playing badly or for being lazy or whatever but the "he's living off his Aston villa goals" criticism is moronic. He's 20, what did you expect him to have achieved with us by now. Tom Cleverley wasn't being slagged off for having never made an impact with us last year despite being 21 yet at 20 the fact that Macheda hasn't done much for us means he's a god awful player.

As well as that I do think that in general people are too quick to write off young players if they don't immediately make an impact or if they show some inconsistency. I know Macheda has been poor for us and I've said myself that I doubt he'll make it at United now but some of the abuse he was getting as an 18 and 19 year old for poor games was unbelievable. Welbeck is a good example of players who struggled a bit when they were younger and were written off who with a bit of patience has become a fairly key part of the team. Nani as well and Ronaldo to an extent had the same thing.

Please dont say slag, I did nothing of the sort, nothing personal or attacking towards Macheda was said by me. Also Fairly certain Im not talking about what Macheda has done for us, it's what he hasnt done for his loan teams. First thing, Cleverly was on loan at Wigan last year, so not sure how he could do anything for us there. Secondly What I was saying in my previous post is that Macheda didnt show anything when he played for Sampdoria and he isnt showing much now at QPR. The 2 players mentioned by you earlier however went out on loan and did good jobs.Look I agree the young players get thrown out without much chance, but Macheda has certainly been given it and he isnt showing much. Who knows maybe he is to young, maybe he will bloom later, but right now he is struggling. Maybe it is the pressure of those goals he scored in that first season. I dont want him gone right this second, but you cannot disagree he needs a little kick on the bottom if he wants to succeed with United.

I think you have been misinformed... the main reason all these rumours are floating around is because Pogba wants a deal worth 40k p/w or at least a significant increase in his wages and he probably has been brainwashed by his agent into this if true

Not sure about his contract though I highly doubt all these rumours will be going around if his contract ends next season
