The Manchester United Thread

This is going to be one terrible summer; the longest I have ever endured! Hopefully fergie sees sense from today's performance and acts in the transfer market! If Park plays another big game for us I'll kill myself. He was good in last 2 seasons but he's lost it. So 6-7 goals victories over Swansea and Sunderland might do the trick. #optimistic

Only player that really turned up was carrick other than that everybody else didn't turn up! I really hope that we come back with a good midfielders next season!

The fact we have not invested last summer into getting a ball winning midfielder has probably cost us the title, well we just have to pray that Newcastle get something from that game. We definitely need some better players, someone like Eden Hazard would be perfect, Ashley Young is not good enough and I have my doubts about Nani, obviously they won't be going anywhere as it would be like trying to rebuild and Fergie simply won't do that.

No matter how long Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes continue to play for we can not keep relying on them, if Fergie does not improve our squad sufficiently I fear for next season.

Manchester United will play Real Madrid in a friendly match at the Santiago Bernabeu on June 3.

just read on skysports italia that pogba wants to join juventus but then on united site says he has not said anything about leaving, wish he would just decide FGS!

Last summer I made my point that Ferge will trust the current squad and current midfielders and I got slated for it. We started the season well. We've been desperately unlucky with injuries to Cleverley,Anderson,Fletcher etc. and to tell the truth I have lost the count how many injuries we've had this season! But now I do believe that Fergie will look at that problem and do something about it. Just for one second imagine our squad fully fit; we've got loads of talent in every area. We just need 1 or 2 good signings and we're done. The players who need to go now are Park,Owen and I hate to say it but Berbatov seems to be off too! And I couldn't care for Pogba anymore;the day SAF said that he agreed a contract with the agent that should have been the end of it. I can sit here now hoping and praying that we will get someone to take the pressure off Rooney.

Agree ther mate should sell pogba like we did morrison, and way to much reliabilty on rooney not like when we had tevez and ronaldo. Dont know why everyone is saying signing hazard would be waste i think we need someone with that special tallent that can dreate somethin or do somethin different also need player like martinez to, they would be my 2 targets

Don't they have more points this season than they did last at this stage?

As much as i do believe Hazard is going to be a top class player, i do not think we should go for him. For me, what we need is a good ball winning midfielder and a left footed winger. We lack a good ball winner in the middle of the park, the Keane type player, even someone like Fletcher. Someone who can sit next to Tom Cleverley, do the dirty work in the middle. Lately we've been playing with a central midfield of Scholes and Carrick. Now they can spread the ball around the park like the best of them, but neither can really cope defensively with world class attacking midfielders and strikers. And we need a left footed wingers, as our 3 wingers, Valencia, Nani and Young, are all right footed, and it leaves us incredibly predictable on the wings, on the right, we'll go to the byline and cross in on our right, and on the left, we'll try to cut inside and link up with Rooney. A left footer, either on the left or right, would make us less predictable.

think we need both imo that would help remove pressure off rooney just to have that extra class player that can come up with a bit of magic.

If there is a talk about a left footed winger then I think we're already looking at Gaitan! Anyway SAF is going to have a very very busy summer indeed! I might add that it might be the biggest challenge of his life and he'll relish it!

Not quite sure what you are getting at, the point I was making is that we needed to sign a ball winning midfielder before this season started in the summer transfer window.

I could be wrong here, but from what i've seen and heard about Gaitan is that hes more of a central playmaker as opposed to an out and out winger, someone in the mold of David Silva or Juan Mata, i think we need someone who can hug the left touchline like Valencia, take it past their man and whip in a dangerous cross. But like i said, i could be wrong about Gaitan's best position, thats just what i've heard.

Can someone give me statistic about Scholes ? I mean United games with and without Scholes. I saw it somewhere on forum, but I can't find it.

Drawn one, lost one (Everton, City). 12 games IIRC.

Yea, been there (on whoscored.com). Nevermind, I'll find it somehow. Thanks.
