The Manchester United Thread

Anyone know how many more seasons Fergie will be managing for?

Says 2-3. Wants the CL one more time too though, needs to find someone who the club trust to run things in a similar way, and of course his health, so all dependent on those factors. A treble and a successor could even see him retire end of this season.

I hope we clear the debt before Fergie retires, it is just a burden on the club at the moment.

Seriously, how naive can Pogba/ Fryers get? Do they not realise how good a club United are at bringing through young players? Some players are so arrogant they actually think they deserve better than United despite the fact he played awfully in the one game I saw him play for United.

Yep. Departure not unexpected, but the club is a surprise. Better player than that.

Good signing for QPR if they can get the best out of him. Hughes, despite being an ****, is a fairly good tactician, and I imagine he will know how to use him.

It's the right time for both United and Park to move on. I'll always love him.

Park's leaving? A sad day. One of my favourites :( But he isn't the player that he used to be and it's nice to see him stay in the Premier League.

But that's another midfielder gone. Ferguson must have some deals in the works to bolster the midfield, I hope.

Absolutely. To be fair City are another club who could do with a properly good regista. Toure/ Barry is a very good partnership (or Barry and De Jong) but the lack of a true deep passer took its toll on City in the champions league, and to some extent on United. A deep passer is a must for you this summer IMO. Modric/ Moutinho/ Martinez for example would be all be perfect choices.

Moutinho and I presume you mean Javi Martinez are not really deep passers imo.. Certainly not alternatives to Modric

Park to QPR for 2 Million is a win win for both clubs and also player. We are getting at least something for the player whom we dont need anymore, QPR are getting solid pro, premier league experienced player for just 2 million at the time where even you can't even get lower league players for that price. Also we have sent Fabio on loan to QPR, so Park going to QPR will also help him to settle(no where near the reason to sell him to QPR, just looking at positives).

Always loved him, one of our best big game player. Hopefully he will recover his form and play better than last season.

Moutinho is a deep passer, who is well rounded. Martinez is not.

Moutinho is a good decent all-round player but... Nothing compared to Modric

Moutinho is different to Modric, Moutinho is much better at tackling and he is also pretty good positionally and is by no means a limited range passer, his passing is rather good, Modric is a slightly morecreative type midfielder with a better passing range but not got the tackling and positional awareness as good as Moutinho. All in all Moutinho would be our best option.

Depending on your needs Moutinho would indeed be the better option although Modric has positional awareness and decent tackling.

[h=1]Nani 'very happy' at United[/h]http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11667/7880643/Nani-very-happy-at-United

I think he was always happy but this kind of backs it up, I think we will tie him down to a contract hopefully, definitely a player who can offer a lot to us.

Very few are on Modric's level, but he is very very good in his own right

Of course and he would be a good signing for Man Utd based on your lack of destroyer in the midfield. Good all-round player who is entering his prime

Well, I think the best way to describe Moutinho is to compare him as mobile Carrick. Tho he hasn't have his passing range, his positioning is really good. He might be the player we need.
