SAF is at Fulham game I think, so maybe we are considering him. Maybe he was the player SAF was talking about yesterday.

Probably at the match because we play them next week, personally I think the player he was talking about was Baines.

Maybe. Not sure, just with reported bid and SAF being at Fulham I connected dots ;)

Daily Star are reporting that Rio is out of Monday's game.

Could see Carrick at the back then with Cleverley and Anderson/Scholes in the middle? I can't believe our defensive injuries yet again causing problems! Perhaps it was a mistake to pull out of the deal for Varane last summer? Or did he just choose Real over us?

Don't think anyone else can play at CB other than Carrick unless we bring in Wootton or Keane. Not sure why Varane didn't sign, there were rumours about issues with the fee iirc but nothing confirmed.

Not sure if Wooton or Keane are ready for a debut in such a competitive and difficult game, but I don't trust Carrick to play there either. SAF has given no indication that Ferdinand is struggling, so I'm 90% sure he's fit to play. I don't think Evans is too far away either:

Alex looked ahead to Monday night’s Barclays Premier League opener against
Everton at Goodison Park, giving a fitness update and all-but confirming how his
defence will line up.

“Phil Jones is a month away, Chris Smalling is out for two months and Jonny
Evans is training but not ready for Monday,” Sir Alex revealed. “Nemanja Vidic
and Rio Ferdinand played on Monday, Rafael is back from the Brazil team and
Patrice Evra played for France in midweek and is available. That will more or
less be the way we will be going.”

Vidic? He's ready for a real match?

Vidic doesn't get injured. The future just called him, they wanted their terminator back.

Saw sky today and Fergie said maybe one more player 'if he becomes available' so I doubt that is legit
