The Manchester United Thread

The fact we could of easily beaten pretty much a full strength Chelsea team with a third string team is a huge positive.

Powell looks like he is going to be a great player for United in the future.

Cech, Cahill, Luiz and Mata playing a full game does not constitute a 'pretty much full strength Chelsea team'.

I thought Oscar made the difference actually. Classy player.

We were a bit unlucky but the young lads will learn from this. Keane was pretty solid but should have seen red. I thought Giggs' passing was exceptional and Anderson too. More positives than negatives for us tonight

Agree with you, I almost added his name, but for me his contribution was from a bit deeper. It was the energy, skill/movement of those guys who really proved too much in ET, but of course you need someone to be dictating the passes from deep and moving it around. Really impressed with Oscar's reading of the game in pretty much every game I see him.

Wait, where does he say that? He said he reckons the ref got it wrong at the start, but past that he's talking about diving in general, not actions by any player on the pitch.
Sandwiched between two mentions of how he thinks Clattenburg got the Torres incident wrong he then goes on to describe a scenario exactly the same as the Torres incident involving a player of the same height as Jonny Evans. I think it's highly unlikely he wasn't talking about it.

Thought Michael Keane was fantastic tonight.

Nice game to watch last night, both team was "all attack". Second half with Fletch as RB and with Chelsea's subs we lost the strenght in the middle. Although, i can't remember recently watching Anderson playing this good, maybe there is (still) hope for this lad.

Anderson

3 assists in 81 mins and was very comfortable in possession. He needs games to be match fit though.

Great game from Anderson, he's better than Carrick and just as good as cleverley but he needs to get games to prove this!

The only reason he isn't a regular now is because hes had bad injuries since he joined. :)

GO ANDO!!! (6)

Paul Pogba scored a last minute for Juve last night and was the best player on the pitch apparently....Biggest mistake of Fergie's career???

my mate is a Juve fan, he says Pogba is dominating. :D also scored some volley a few weeks ago!

*Waits for the inevitable backlash*

You can't really blame Fergie, only Pogba is to blame for leaving United because he "expected" to play week in week out whilst he is still young. Although having said that, Fergie should of gave him more game time especially in cups or against weaker sides. So I guess Fergie is partly to blame.

Love Anderson, he was great last night, again! every time he has started this year he has been quality.. remember the start of last season with him and Cleverley in the centre.. was dynamic and great to watch!

Injuries have kept his development at a low and as well as Fergie trying to mould him into a holding midfielder to try and replace the void left by Roy Keane, which is like buying the Mona Lisa and taking a bucket of paint and throwing it at it...

pointless!

Really Really hope Anderson can kick on from now...Would solve nearly every midfield problem we have...and regarding Pogba is still think it was about money and Fergie was right to let him go for that reason but he is becoming the type of player that we are crying out for.....

The money and the thing that he was making demands to the club, for that SAF let him so easily and maybe he was already has Powell in his mind and we all know the manager flavoures british youngsters more.

Anderson at Porto was heralded as a new Ronaldinho or Zidane. Now he is an out and out central midfielder which he is good at but he would be more potent playing like a Kagawa role off of RVP & Rooney.

Paul Pogba is a money greedy player... he was at the much bigger club with better history but left as he didn't get a nice big wage even though he was unproven at the highest level. ****!

I do think Powell is a striker rather than a midfielder though, I think alongside injury SAF ruined Smudgers Careers a little.

I loved how SAF basically blamed Nani for the defeat against Chelsea and for me its another big sign that hes on his way out of the club because if there's something Sir Alex does well is support his players :)

The Anderson hype train is right on schedule this year.

The minute Anderson shows he can perform like this consistently throughout a season and not get a bad injury along the way is the minute I begin to rate him. Until then, he'll have shown nothing he hasn't already done.
