The Manchester United Thread

This was just clueless, if not for De Gea we would have got fat 0 points.
Lol, when will it end has made so many saves this season and has improved so much in the arial department! Imo will be one of best keepers in world for years to come has got to be up there now on shot stopping.

De Gea is a fantastic shot stopper. He is vunerable in certain departments but he's still only very, very young and is still learning about the game. There's no doubt that he will be the best goalkeeper in the world, but personally I don't think he will be at United when he is the best goalkeeper in the world, something tells me he will end up back in Spain.

Easily one of the best shot stoppers and at a stupidly young age, his ability in the air still needs a huge amount of work though.
He's not physical enough to push past players, doesn't look remotely comfortable catching those high balls and gets lost on crosses.
All things no doubt he's working hard on though and with his young age you'd expect him to be able to sort out at least two of those three issues(He'll never be physical enough IMO). FM Nutter brings up a good point though, will he still be at United once he's sorted them?

Good luck to those clubs trying to prise him from us. There is an assumption that because he is Spanish he must therefore return to Spain.

You can't deny his punch before the goal went in could of been stronger though, that is something that cost us 2 points.

The ball could have been cleared 3-4 times before that. Evra could have reacted better. And he made several brilliant saves.

He did make great saves, but on that specific incident he could of been better.

Vidic didn't help either.

Now way cost us 2 points kept us in the game and i would say earned us a point more like, was really dissapionted with our attacking play especially on counter would say that cost us more than anything!

Who helped and didn't help isn't really the point. In my view if the keeper comes for that he has to get a stronger punch than what he did. I'm by no means saying he had a bad game because he made great saves (which you come to expect from him now).

But from this incident, it did cost us 2 points as it was last minute of the game and we had no time to reply.

But its not his error. And if you are going to use that argument, then given the number of saves he made, he actually got us a point.

You cant pick one incident and ignore the rest of the match

I didn't mean Vidic didn't help by not heading it away, Vidic tried to head the ball and in process got in the way of De Gea, that's the reason De Gea couldn't get proper fist to the ball.

I blame rafael if you look at start of clip he runs past akotto for some reason up field with hands in air when could have prevented cross coming in.

Yeah mix up between Rafael and Valencia led to that cross. Then Vidic blocked De Gea. It was just sort of goal where you can't pick one person and blame him.

Agree still think in the end was good point and least game was played last thing we need is backlog of games, still 6 points really infront inc GD.

I didn't I know he made great saves earlier in the game.... but who's to say United couldn't of replied with time left?

The point is..... if a keeper has a great game many good saves etc. Why can't I criticise an error he makes later in that same game?

Because the error wasnt actually his...

It is though, if a keeper comes to punch a ball away it has to be decisive no matter what the scenario, he has decided to come for it. That punch went straight to a Spurs player who was in the box.

The cross shouldnt have got into the box in the first. He actually gets a decent punch while being blocked off by two players, he actually beats both players to the ball, Vidic actually misses the header. Evra doesnt react quick enough, neither did the players in the box. So how is that his error?

Punch wasn't the greatest for me, if you come for a punch it has to go 20+yards away from goal as his earlier one did. Although i'd accept Vidic could have actually jumped for the header instead of standing his ground. A catalogue of errors for me and it was going to take something like that for Utd to concede yesterday because defensively they were sensational.
