The Manchester United Thread

This is the second time Jones has played in midfield and has been basically told to mark oppositions most influential player and it worked against Bale & Now fellaini. I wonder if he'd do the same against Madrid?

He has done well man marking them but even so the difference between marking Ronaldo to Felliaini and Bale is huge! Jones can be at the top of his game but it won't matter if Ronaldo shows up, if he shows up Jones is being made to look amateur.

Meh. CR7 and Messi are overrated anyway

Yeah I wasn't being serious lol. There's some truly idiotic posts lately so I thought I'd keep up the current trend :D

Besides it's my b'day less than 19 hours and not in the best of moods so feeling a bit...troublesome lol

Not even suggesting that marking Ronaldo is an easy task but the fact that Jones has got very good pace is an advantage. If Not ronaldo then Madrid's second most influential player Ozil can be marked. And the fact is whatever the strategies these 2 teams put out this is going to be one absolute nail-biting affair.....

Problem is marking Ronaldo is very very tough task as he won't stick to one position. He attacks LB, if he thinks it's not working out then he will move to LW and if he gets no joy then the CBs. Heard someone saying in interview he will always looks for weak link in the defense and keep going at them and he has no fixed position.

Also we have to keep Alonso quiet for which Rooney or Kagawa should be on their top game defensively and also Ozil who can shred any defense to pieces.

As much as we are even Madrid will be worried facing Rooney and RVP. It will be interesting to see whether Nani starts or Valencia. If we start 3 in the midfield with Carrick Cleverley and Jones then Kagawa will be on the bench. Trying to predict the line up for this game is near impossible.

Flag that was chosen by Gary Neville. I think will it be used in every game.

What do you guys think of Rafeal our RB? I personally think he is fantastic for his age and can only see him getting better, fantastic going forward, especially when linking with valencia down the right. hard working and can put down any threat on his day.

Fantastic player and easily our most improved player along with Evans. People still think he is defensively poor which is bs imo. He is very good defender and reads the game very well. Not only with Valencia he links up well with Nani also. His attacking game was always top class. The pass he played yesterday for second goal, even the likes of Mata/Silva would be proud of that.

And he is just 22 years old. He is lucky in a way as he didn't have great competition for RB spot and it was up for grabs whereas Fabio was unlucky as he had Evra.

I totally agree, very rarely do I see someone who actually agrees about his defensive abilities. I think for his age and especially his size as well he has done fantastic so far in his career. Out of the two twins I ave always favoured Rafeal over Fabio but your right about the lack of competition Raf has and Fabio's growth was stunted by Evra being in the side constantly.

Rafael you say? A truely outstanding RB for his age, he has matured so much with the game time he deservedly gets. No doubt in my mind he is going to be a world-class RB.

My only concern is that he would be the type of player Barcelona would love to have after Dani Alves, I hope we keep him no matter what the price.

Rafael is one of the top Rb's in the Premier League and if not the world at the moment! Zabaleta (before last weeks game) was probably the best, only just so, Raf is the best now!

I have always rated Raf, as sunilvk said, by far the most improved player in our squad, probably more so than Evans, even though Evans has actually been pretty outstanding in comparison to his previous seasons where as Raf has always been good if you know what I mean

I fully agree with the Barca statement as well, never thought of that really! I would assume Fergie will most definitely keep him as he is also HG which is a huge benefit!

by the time Fergie retires, Alves will most likely be on his way out, meaning our new manager would have to keep hold of him.. lets hold thumbs
